No, it's not a feature of RMXP. It was just in Essentials before I took over its development. I'm sure there are various Neo-H-Mode 7 whatever-they're-called scripts out there that work better than what Essentials has, but the trick is to figure out how they work to implement them.
I was guessing it was something like that. So it's a default feature of RPG Maker XP? I might be able to find something on their forums. As far as I can tell by messing around with it everything works pretty well with no major bugs except the 2 I mentioned.
The ability to change the perspective was taken out of the Options menu because it really shouldn't have been in there in the first place. As far as I know about perspective mode (which is very little), the way you map is completely different than for orthographic (the regular view) maps, so changing it will almost certainly make things look bad. The choice of view is also very much something the game maker should decide, not the player.
I've never looked at how perspective mode actually works, because I'm not interested in it. As far as I'm concerned, it's incomplete and buggy and not worth using, and I don't feel like trying to remove or improve it. I don't even know how to map with it.
Hey Maruno, I have a few questions about an old feature that isn't really used in Essentials anymore and I'm wondering why, and if it will ever be worked on again. If you've seen my recent questions in the thread you'll know I'm talking about Perspective Mode. With some help I've managed to make it optional again and made it default for my game. There are two major issues with it though.
1) Priority on tiles is completely broken. Doesn't do anything.
2) Autotiles don't animate.
I'm mainly wondering why it was pretty much taken out of the options in essentials and hasn't been finished/fixed. If you don't plan on working on it any time soon, I was wondering if you could at least take a quick look at it and see if you had any ideas on how to go about fixing these 2 issues.
Alright. I am ready for you to check if my thread approves for the Showcase now I added a ton of better screenshots and I have a download up. I hope everything is fit for being moved up. Please take a look when you get a chance.
That sounds good. Thanks for doing this for me. I have my design for the thread saved so I don't need it sent. I'll go fix it up now. I do have a lot more screenshots. I can add more and talk more about it. I'll send another message in a week or so when my demo is ready.
I've been trying to decide what to do here, hence the lack of a quick response.
In the end, I'll stick to the rule of "one thread per game". It's what I would have said if you'd asked me before trying to make a new thread. I'll unlock your old thread, and you can spruce up its first post if you want and then ask me to consider it for moving. I can PM you a copy of the new thread you tried to post, in case you want to refer to it.
Tip: Based on your new thread alone, I wouldn't say it quite qualifies to be in the Showcase. There's only 5 in-game screenshots in it, only two story-related paragraphs, and no demo (a demo isn't necessary, but it helps). Most parts could be elaborated on.
Sorry to bother you (I know I do it a lot) but I wasn't thinking clearly earlier and might have done something wrong. We talked awhile ago about moving my game's thread to the Showcase because I feel it belongs there now, and then I kind of disappeared from this website for a while. I recently came back and found my thread had been closed so I thought it was a good time to make a new one in The Showcase. I submitted it an hour or so ago and now I'm not sure if I should have contacted you about moving the old one first. Sorry if I broke any rules, I really didn't mean to. Just want to get my thread back up whenever you find it convenient. Thanks for the time to read this :D
