I want a mango pastry now. =( And money as well, naturally.

Ooh, Orre fic. I'm interested. =D Anyways... going by in-game stuff, it never actually says just how a Pokemon's heart gets closed (except that in Colosseum they mention it's 'artificially' done to make it into 'a fighting machine'). It is kinda hinted though that the Pokemon gets tortured or put under some sort of stress or the like. Worthy of note in Colosseum Shadow Pokemon are made in a remote lab in the middle of desert which when you get there is full of empty prison-like cells, and in XD it's in a 'Shadow Factory' (hardly a nice place as you may imagine =P). Also the original way is to visit the relic stone, a shrine for Celebi, or meet Celebi itself, which will purify the Pokemon's heart (via the power of time and all I suppose). That's the view I've taken anyways, and from what I've seen of other people's thoughts it seems to be the general consensus.

Actually you've reminded me of that tvtropes page linked to recently.. there was a bit about Shadow Pokemon and some theory on it, heh, with many a tangent mind:
    Spoiler:
And how could we have forgotten Cipher already? The organization as a whole can be factored in as Complete Monsters (individual members like Miror B. can be excused).

It may sound hilarious that their scheme is to seal the hearts of Pokemon, but the real horror is what it implies - they inflict a variety of horrors, both natural and artificially-induced, to strip a Pokémon of all sense of compassion, emotion, and empathy, leaving nothing but a soulless, heartless killing machine behind. If any of the Pokemon species on this page caused you to freak out, imagine how much worse it would be if there was nothing stopping it from doing that to you.

You have to fix this by showing them kindness and trusting them. As the Pokémon gets better, it enters Hyper Mode, its Berserk Mode, more frequently, mirroring a pattern seen in some real-world mental problems stemming from abuse or trauma. Plus, myths of Pokemon like that exist from before science could even do such a thing. Celebi can undo the shadow completely via time travel. The only logical assumption is that the psychological/neurological aspect of a Shadow Pokémon comes from sustained, deliberate, explicitly objectifying abuse, and most Pokémon have the personalities of children.

I know that it's terrible for all the shadow pokemon, but somehow a shadow Togepi is just incredibly awful. In the games its a carefree egg that brings happiness, and the anime it has the mentality and personality of two-year old. I just started XD, I reeally want to get the Togepi now.

And I'm also very glad there isn't a shadow Alakzam, in more of a story context than actual gameplay, you'd be screwed. (Yes, I'm the one who thinks spoon mage is a freakish creep.)

To add on to this, Hyper Mode causes an increase in critical probability with Shadow Rush, which back in Colosseum inflicted recoil damage on its user. In XD, it's replaced with Reverse Mode, which instead has the Pokemon sustain damage at the end of each round it's afflicted. Either way, the afflicted Pokemon are not likely to use any non-Shadow move while affected, and refuse to accept any items from the trainer, which can be a bit of a ***** when fighting other Shadow Pokemon. Oh, and to fix either state, you have to either call out its name, use a pack of cologne, or stuff it in Daycare for a while. That's right - not even the freakin' Pokemon Centers can snap them out of it, and given ordinary and improperly equipped people aren't even aware of what their Pokemon are doing freaking out and hurting themselves, they'll probably only notice something's horribly wrong when their Pokemon finally pass out from overexertion! Imagine your pet Pikachu going into seizures at random and passing out, and not only do you have no idea what the hell's going on, neither do the trained medics. That will scare the **** out of you.

And then there are many of the actual owners of Shadow Pokémon, who fall into four categories - people who want to set them right (Wes, Rui, and Michael), people who don't know the bum deal they got, people who want them for their power, and the members of Cipher. Your rank in the organization is typically indicated by how many Shadow Pokemon you possess - lowly grunts typically have one or two, with higher-ups having up to four. Greevil (bastard that he is) has a grand total of seven - four of which are legendaries, and one of which is so thoroughly corrupted that its physical appearance changed to reflect this! The translation to all that is that advancement through the ranks requires its members to be Complete Monsters to their own Pokemon (that may be why Miror B. is roaming freelance in XD; he quit!). Add in that Cipher is one of those Names To Run Away From Really Fast, and it's easy to see how the whole group beats out Cyrus in terms of sheer evil.

Hope that helps some? I'm eager to talk more on Orre stuff though, seeing I know too much about it I feel. XD

And yes, that is a good thing. Miror B should never have such unfabulous hands. =P

Actually, at my store's bakery, we do have mango pastries. Now if they were mango pastries wrapped in money, we'd be getting somewhere.

Since the last message I sent you contained butter-knife-hands Miror. B, we could say that this question isn't completely random. See, I'm writing a fanfic that takes place in Orre, and there's a scene where a Pokemon gets his heart closed off to be a Shadow Pokemon. So my question is if there's any sort of theory as to how a Pokemon's heart gets closed. You're the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to Colo/XD, so maybe you know of something.

There's no butter-knife-hands Miror. B in my fic, though. XD We should be glad about that.

Hey Bobble? Just wondering something, but why does Miror B have butter knives for hands?

Isn't it awesome? =D Creepy, but awesome. XD A friend drew it, and I have also used it for my SuperSecretButNotReallySinceAFewPeopleKnowAboutItSoEh-Project. =D

And XD. I suppose I should expect many names from you now. =P

    Mangoes! =D

    So, I...

    YOUR PROFILE PICTURE!

Anyhow, I was on LiveJournal, and someone posted this in a post:

    Quote:
Is it wrong of me to hope their next ship is something like Bob and Bill, just so they can't mash up the names?
I was amused, since this means your name is apparently a squished together shipping name.

Here is the link to the post, where I shall now pull new nicknames for you from.

Every summer was too hot for us. XD *shakes fist at lack of air conditioning* And I do hate that rule of the universe. But I suppose it's better than having to learn at absolute zero. =P And yeah, Spring (or Autumn) ftw. (More so Spring for that leads to the end of the year and also contains stuff like my birthday XD)

Sppf has been lagging recently with the influx of activity thanks to 5th gen news, but something may be done about that soon... And yeah, I recall you being on sppf before - and I did remember. =P (Was more wondering what delurk meant as I was lacking with the sleep and the sanity). But you haven't used that account for much for a while iirc, right? (Yay for evil Togepi - still have to write about them too >_<). But if you have delurked...well, welcome back to the land of green? XD

I'm not even sure if Miror B knows himself, there's so much afro for things to be within. XD

I know how it is to not have air conditioning in school. My high school didn't have it, and my final year was also the hottest year. During those months, the teachers just gave up teaching us anything because no one could concentrate. Except for my Earth Science teacher. He brought us outside, where it was actually cooler.

Apparently there's some rule of the universe that students must melt in order to learn anything.

Compare that to last night, where I had to go to bed wearing five layers because it was that cold, and you'll find that I tend to prefer spring/autumn where the weather isn't too extreme.

SPPf's not loading right now for me, but I was actually a member over there. I'm under my old name of Hanako Tabris*. Many many months ago, I sent you a VM over there about evil Togepi because PC wasn't loading. Apparently you forgot. *pats*

Maybe I'll finally start posting again in SPPf's HG/SS section. Seems to be moving faster than their fanfiction section right now.

My question about Miror. B is: What does he keep in his afro?

*And huzzuh! I have officially delurked. Cheers.

Snapple's? I see. We have a strong lack of Snapple stuff here... hurrah for fruit though. XD

Bugger about the weather - we just tend to melt more often than not over here. Of course we're very much into air conditioners, but they don't have much of those at schools. =/

I suppose they could be interesting; heck, some of them could be evil...

I suppose it's either have a 5th gen or have people make demands for a 5th gen and make 5th gen threads in every other section possible. XD But yeah, we've taken a stance against speculation there. Speculators are shot, and survivors are shot again. ;P Ah, I remember the dog-type thread way back when. How terribly amusing that was... You should join in if only to observe - face palms can sometimes be worth it. XD (HGSS was only a small version of what may come methinks...although we did have Hoenn and Orange Islands thrown about for instance).

Heh, I suppose I do. He still lives on. XD Maybe that Pikachu could use an afro, come to think of it... >:]

It was Snapple's Mango Madness that had the kiwi juice in it. Kiwis and mangoes. Surprisingly delicious together. I'm not too fond of strawberry with kiwi anything, even though I do like the two fruits separately.

My part of the US gets both extremes of weather, so I got exposed to it all. Right now, it's freezing cold, snowy, and dry. In a few months, it will be boiling hot and either stormy/rainy or really humid and people wish that it was stormy. That tends to be how it goes where I am. Wintertime? We all wish for summer. Summertime? Well, we don't wish for winter because of the whole "New England winter" thing. My part of the country, known as New England, has terrible winters because we're up north and that's about as far as my knowledge of meteorology goes.

Whoo! Different particles of sand! They could be interesting. You never know.

I'm really surprised that SPPf jumped so quickly into having a 5th Gen forum. There's only so much you can discuss about two Pokemon, and I guess speculation is EVIL EVIL EVIL there. Weird. But hey, not much moderation for that section yet, né? Enjoy it while you can before speculation is allowed. Then you'll have all sorts of "find mew in game by beating E4 50 trillion times with a level 5 magikarp!!!"

This is making me realize that I missed out on quite a lot of craziness on the forums by never leaving the fanfiction section. I completely missed the crazy fourth-generation speculation.

At least you still have Miror B. elsewhere. I'm getting way too used to Pikachu to use any other character for an avatar.

Oh yay, mango juice. =D Never had one with kiwi juice though (but I have had mango and apple, mango and orange, etc).

Indeed (for some of my friends though it was also good sunburn weather XD). Snow... it never snows here, and only in winter in a few select parts of Australia (i.e. mountains and Tasmania the south-est 'part' of Australia). I've experienced snow before when I went to Poland years ago, so I know what winter can be like. XD And yay for...different particles of sand? XD

Doesn't it look FUN!?! XD Lots of new people who do not know how to find the right section or read rules or notice announcements. Oh well. HGSS section though was easier, thread moderation there. =D I'm also now modding the 5th gen section there, which also has threads unable to be made there but...yeah, new gens can bring about some bad speculation. >_< I learnt that when I joined forums during the pre-DP stage.

XD I imagine so. I'm stll not quite used to see Eusine in my sig tbh. XD I guess that's what happens when one is too lazy/reluctent to replace an awesome avatar... =P
