Midori Chi was on the staff for the longest time, though. She's only left somewhat recently, within the past six months. Looks like she just got really inactive. aragornbird has been off staff for years -- sometimes I forget he modded here. Strategies and Movesets, was it?
I'm surprised you remember who you got modded. I can't remember the people I suggested for mod and actually got modded. Maybe I never did... dun dun dun! I remember who I sent PMs for, though. :D I think. All I do remember is I wanted to suggest Ausaudriel for OVP at one point but I thought the staff would consider him too inactive so I didn't. And then someone else did and he was modded. I was like FFFFFFFFFFF >:(
The core is still the same, but there are so many shiny features now. The infraction system being the biggest one. Most of the work is done for us now! You click on what they're in trouble for, write them a little bit in this text box, and it sends them a PM saying they were infracted. And then the infractions are tracked on the profile and it automatically bans people after X amount of points. All that stuff on one page. It's awesome. d("d)
And to think I didn't want it around when it first was introduced. Probably because it gives the mods limited banning powers! Man, I remember when banning people was a s-mod perk. XD

It's our secret XP Mod thread was amazing even though I only ever managed to get three people modded (hey, at least you were one of them!) aragornbird and Midori Chi were the other two, I believe, and both of them appear to be long gone.
Yeah, PC has so many features now that it probably makes modding from a few years back look like a cakewalk. I'm sure I'd adapt well, though. When I was 17 and an S-Mod for the first time, I picked up pretty splendidly on the finer points of vbulliten surprisingly quickly. Hopefully it's still mostly the same XP

That's okay, I feel that way about the HQ sometimes. Especially the mod thread. You don't tell them that either!
Honestly if you're active somewhere where they need a moderator they might add you anyway. They modded MCD pretty quick to Culture and Media.
Modding feels so much different now than before, and not just because of the shiny new features we've gotten since then. I feel a lot more pressure to actually improve my section, along with the usual cleaning it up of rule-breakers. Sometimes I don't feel like I do enough. :/
As far as I know AIM is still around. But I'm not sure myself. I haven't had a need to go on for years myself.

At least you decided to remain with regular old moderatorship without completely burning out and going back to a regular member from AA or S-Mod like so many seem to do XP Man, even if I had no time on my hands it would be so hard to give up any kind of moderator position, if only for losing access to the mod forums. Don't let any of the higher staff see this, but I already miss that place so bad and wouldn't mind being back XD
I'll give Pidgin a go, I actually think I've heard of it before but never actually tried it. Somehow I think my old AIM account is completely dead, I don't think I've used it since 2003 or so and....well, I'd actually be halfway surprised if AIM even still existed (I'll google it here in a minute :p) My fear has been that instant messaging would die out in the age of social networking, but apparently not so far.

Don't you mean unlucky? :p
Well, as long as the mods are still active it's all good, anyway. I am! Just not as much as before. It's kind of weird, I never expected to be like this in the past. But then again, back in the past I had a lot more free time. Having a job and having to walk to it and back home eat up a lot of my day.
Pidgin is cool because it's it's a multi-chat client. Although I only use MSN anyway. But now I can totally get other messenger accounts if I wanted! Or see if my AIM still works! *dies laughing* Oh, AIM, it's been years. I think the only downside would be if you use MSN Plus, because iirc it doesn't work with like any other client out there, but I don't even use it so it's not an issue for me.

I guess that was just the lucky hour for the spammers and noobs XP
Well, like you said, the S-Mods and above are there to fill in when the various forum leaders can't be there and I don't think we ever had a problem with anyone who had real life responsibilities but still wanted to keep their position. No need to feel bad, that was what we were there for!
Wow, those are the same exact problems I have with MSN 2011. I hate it compared to the older versions and I guess a switch is in order for both of us XP I'll download Pidgin and see what it's like, then. I'm not so lazy that I'd avoid talking to someone that I want to talk to just because they use a different IM program XD

Which is weird, when I was first modded I was only using the computer an hour a day! I kind of started breaking that rule a few months after I was modded. My parents never said anything. Oh, my parents. :p
I feel slightly bad now. Back in those days I was on the computer a lot more, it feels like. These days I have work, so a lot of the time I'm not on until later. I end up missing a lot of mod actions. >_<; The h-staff is pretty good about doing things when I'm out, but I still feel guilty about it.
I was using the newest one, too! I got frustrated because it wouldn't even let me change my display name! All it gave me was an option to change my actual name. My roommate was like "SAM YOU'RE AN IDIOT" and then I showed him that the option simply wasn't there anymore. And I was also mad because I always stick to appear offline but to actually talk to people you had to appear online just to them and any messages people were sending me while I was appearing offline to them weren't actually getting to me until I signed off.
I ended up downloading a chat client called Pidgin instead. At the very least, the look is very simple, and I love it. :D I haven't had much practice using it yet, though. I don't talk with that many people on MSN to begin with, haha.

I still watched OVP like a hawk when I was an S-Mod, but you were so good that you always beat me to the punch on any problems XD Pretty much the only influence I was ever able to have on that place as an S-Mod was when I decreed that personality quizzes be moved to that other forum that doesn't increase postcount, hah.
So, counting me, six mods in as many years, huh? I guess that's not so bad XD I've been having issues with MSN as well and people are telling me it's because I'm using the newest one (2011) and that apparently sucks, hah. Maybe you need an upgrade and I need a downgrade XD Hope to chat with you on MSN or just talk here!
May 22nd, 2011 8:55 PMSammi
Yep! Although looking back sometimes I boggle about how I was promoted that high. XD
Yeah, even when I was on h-staff I kept an eye on it. I want to say at one point there was no mod there simply because I was watching it. The last five years get fuzzier as time goes by.
The only OVP mod that wasn't as good was the guy that came right after me. Crystal Walerin or something like that. He ended up quitting and then getting banned and I cannot for the life of me remember why anymore. XD Signomi had it for awhile, and then there was Ausaudriel who eventually made AA as well, and then it was Patchisou Yutohru, who did a pretty amazing job imo. :D And yes, I am probably the only person who could totally list OVP mods off the top of my head.
Oh, MSN. I still hardly use it, lol. It doesn't help that the newest version that came with my laptop confuses the crap out of me. It gets worse with every update. I'm still stuck on how to change my display name of all things. >_< But I'll add you! Hopefully it works.

Whoa, you made it to AA? I knew I picked a winner when I first got you modded :p Even if you haven't been OVP mod the entire time I was away, it sounds like it's generally been in good hands  You always spoke way too modestly of yourself when you used to wonder what I saw in you as a mod, too XD I guess that hasn't changed either. You had a thing for that forum and its rules and you know it! (and you were pretty much the only one who cared XP)
P4's one of my favorite games of all time as well. You should get on MSN with me sometime! I have a Chie avatar there~
May 20th, 2011 9:22 PMSammi
I still think I can't reply in thread so I'm gonna do it here. :DQuote:sammi! Still guarding OVP or have you moved onto other things? Regardless, it's super to see you still here, and thanks for the understanding :D
Nice P4 avatar btw :p
I'm still in OVP. Although I haven't been modding it the full five years. I was actually promoted to s-mod the day you left! Then I was AA for a bit. Then I left staff due to moving for the millionth time and lack of Internet. And then I was re-modded to OVP last August. Been there since.
I've almost always been of the mindset that off-the-Internet life should take priority over PC. In the end, PC itself is just a website.
Thanks! :D Persona 4 is one of my favorite games ever. I've had this avatar for like a year now, lol. I should probably change it eventually.
Also, I have no idea if you remember this, but I wanted to thank you for suggesting me for OVP mod and for letting me pester you with a million questions. I have no idea why you thought so highly of me, because looking back I was still such a noob. XD I don't know how I survived modding back then!
