You're cherrypicking Jay's argument, he isn't blaming it all on the corporation when he says that "human beings are impatient, lazy, selfish creatures." Of course he doesn't mean it as an epithet, he's just demonstrating a point about human nature. And you know what? He's right here too. He's making a critique about how humans as rational actors often pick self-interested short term goals over common long term goals. You agree with that. You're giving him too hard of a time and a very narrow, critical reading of his ideas.
I didn't say countries in democracy don't take people's arguments and opinion in count, I said it's stupid to say than after you called yourself and all the other humans lazy and in other words stupid. That's no way to come in to a discussion.
I think this discussion will lead to nothing, for the people in this forums do not lead the world and aren't scientists who work on searching for a reliable cleaner greener energy source.
He was making a rebuttal to this point - that in a democracy, you have a civil society where ideas are changed and peoples mindsets can be changed too. He was saying how we can have a discussion and not be scientists but still make it a useful discussion. And him calling humans lazy and stupid isn't meant to be taken seriously, I don't see a good reason why it should be and I don't see a good reason why he would mean it to be taken seriously. You're making a straw man argument, he was just making a point.
As to the actual disagreement, I can see that you're not very fond of what you perceive to be wasted breath. I don't see you disagreeing with any of the content, just the method of how others are going about. But that's frivolous next to what people can contribute. People can and should express their opinions here - especially because nobody is going to be harmed by them. If you find them to be distasteful, fine, but they are still valid opinions that reveal what people think about fossil fuels. Ideas and opinions matter - and what they're saying isn't factually incorrect, are they? It's an opportunity for all of us to realize what the world is thinking.
And you've been to china and you are sure that the heaters work all the time, every day of the year? China's a very weird country that bans opinion from the internet to look good inside and outside of china. Are you sure that info is legit?
I'd be totally okay with having an electric car and solar panels in my house, I'm not saying it's wrong. For a household it works, just not everything can be replaced with electric and renewable energy right away. I'm not gonna hate on China, if they do that's awesome dude, but China's not a place I'd trust and if you actually wanna give something good to the discussion, why not bring and post more information about it?
I do know about giving person credit for the supply of energy that's sent back to the grid, I live in germany and it's getting quite popular for big house owners to start installing panels. In fact, lot's of buildings from the university where I study at have several panels on the rooftops and I think its great, they are awesome for actually doing something.
You're giving me a really hard time here. You're giving China a really hard time, because it's China. Of course the heaters work all the time, they're machines! You doubt that my information is "legit", and I have to go play fetch for you? These are two things that really tick me off - people being hard on the most mundane detail on China, just because it's China
and censorship and communism and human rights, and people needing information placed in front of them on a silver platter because it's too difficult to, I dunno, to verify it because you're interested? This stuff isn't hard to find.
Have fun:

This is every city in China - okay every household, I have pictures of these farmhouses with them (which is actually a very rational idea considering that the grid in the countryside is doubtlessly worse than the city) on the high-speed rail to Nanjing. I'm not going to post that picture because you can trust me, but here's one that speaks to my point more effectively:
One more uncritical critique about China and my head will explode. If you're unsure about it, at least be critical. It is very insulting for a person who travels and studies China and is genuinely interested in it to talk to someone who'd rather wear their biases on their sleeve instead of trying to meet halfway.
This isn't a contest about who can do more irl. If we took the last paragraph of your last post as the direction this thread should go, then this will become a bragging thread about who's got the biggest green. And us trying to one-up each other is a lot more useless than a discussion. What you did was describe, the original direction of the thread was, in contrast, to theorize.
