Hm, true. Would you say you associate yourself as a PlayStation gamer?

After rereading your post I quoted, I just realized I basically just said what you had already said.

Haha, I don't mind at all!

Being able to express our opinions without trolling or flaming is one of the things I cherish most in this online community.

I'm completely against touch screen capability, because it involves adding so many new features that take a second or two to load, and that also causes problems for emulation and compatibility. It's nearly impossible to properly emulate touch screen functions on a PC these days, unless you have pen and touch installed or a very intricate mouse set up. (Which I have seen, many a time) but with the average 200X PC it's difficult to play such games via emulation, and I refuse to buy a new system for one game, made that mistake too many times.

Luckily for me, many of my friends have a 3DS so I can easily play ORAS whenever I want, or other Pokémon titles that they own, as long as I make sure that they aren't still using that save file lol. I guess that's one reason I'm really looking forward to emulation of X/Y because I'll be able to back up my saves and start over as I please.

As of yet, I've barely played Y, and I won't touch X for personal reasons, so the features within those two games are still very alien to me, and only serve to further my disinterest in the newer generation of gaming.

I commend Game Freak for making such awesome attempts at moving forward, but I feel that they still haven't quite gotten into a new generation yet. Ever since DPPt it feels like a reskin to the old, even X/Y feels that way so far, despite the graphical and mechanics overhaul. Especially with the Friend Safari and Wonder Trade features specifically. It's like they are trying to reuse old features in new ways.

As far as hacking goes, I'm interested in seeing what alternative hacks we can see. Sadly, my abilities in hacking aren't nearly good enough for me to make something that could impress the masses, on either side of things. Someday perhaps.

Posting this via proxy lol. Using a phone while I'm waiting for the food to get here. I love remote access <3 And don't worry about bloating my VMs lol. They are usually like 2 lines or so, and I haven't been getting any lately, since Mateo and I Skype now.
    Spoiler:
Because I'm a Beta Tester for Christmas, which should have it's public release in the next 24 hours!

    2 reasons:

    1) I'm more interested in the old games.

    2) Newhag company is newhag. I'm sick of game producers jumping on the bandwagon looking for nothing but cash. Maybe I'm a bit biased against Game Freak, but that's how I see them as of the last year or two. It's like they are more interested in cash than user feedback, and that's a ticket down a one way track to bankruptcy.

Oh, and bonus reason: Mega Evolution is the laziest feature I've ever seen. Instead of adding new Pokémon they just built more onto the old ones, which I find disrespectful to players like myself who have been around since Gen I. Gen I and Gen II were so simple and yet so elegant, each generation has been like a step backwards until ORAS came out, this time they didn't 'step' backwards, they turned around and sprinted away from us.

I'm all for new features, don't get me wrong. BW2 Repel system? A very nice addition. Roller Skates? Not bad, still waiting for a skateboard, but that's beside the point. Friend Safari? Fair, but not my style. Pokémon keeps moving into the realm of multiplayer and it's losing so much of the plot-centric aura that once drew me in and made me waste hours on end trying to figure out how to make my perfect team. Now it's just "Grab Legendary and destroy enemies" or "Get mega evolution stones and destroy enemies"

Again, maybe I'm just biased on this subject, but I feel like Game Freak is going the wrong way on the development side of things.

What happened to the mystique that made Yellow so fascinating? The wonder that Gold/Silver left me with? They say Character Creation, but it's really just Character Selection. That's an insult to me.

I've got a few reasons, I guess. I just can't see Pokémon recovering, and I truly believe the fault lies in the development team's antics.

Sorry if this was too much of a rant or seems disrespectful. I'm.. opinionated.. Sorry if I came off that way, just want you to know it's not personal. (But I'm in a bit of a rush, only a few minutes til I have to leave for a dinner party >.<')

I generally avoid these threads because I don't much care for discussions that bade full-on negativity without any positive backing. I won't participate, exactly, but I will add some discussion.

Actually, I fully agree with you on this. That's the reason that I wasn't originally going to post that thread.

About Me

  • About machomuu
    Interests
You know, I had a list here of things that I like, but it just felt like I was filling space. Usually I don't even fill this area in, but what the heck. I like games, gaming is probably my favorite hobby...probably to an unhealthy level, but hey, it's good for the mind.

Anime and manga are a big thing for me, as well, partially because I don't watch television anymore. Nowadays, if I watch something, it's usually because I want to dedicate myself to it, so it's generally a matter of choosing what I want to watch, and anime really makes that easy. Problem is, if it's in Japanese, I have to give it 100% of my attention, and that's part of the reason that I'm trying to learn Japanese.

More than that, though, I've learned about Japan to the extent that I'm actually interested in it. This is mostly due to research projects and the like, as well as being the cause of some curious points I'd see in anime or general miscellany that needed clarification. The idea that there exists a place that exists both as a mish-mash of many different cultures while at the same time heavily influencing the mix with its own unique flare is pretty interesting, and seeing how that same place is both similar to and contrarily dissimilar to my homeland is just fascinating. It doesn't really have any bearing on my fight to learn Japanese, though; that's mostly for the sake of my hobbies.

Apart from that, I'm basically an average nerd. I have a desire to become a video game developer and am really interested in social sciences (Sociology, Philosophy, etc.) and the forces that influence them, such as Psychology. As strange as it may sound, learning how people work is just plain fascinating, and it may because I like analyzing the complex facets of the mundane so much that I take interest in it.

Then again, most of this is basically just things spilling out of my brain. If it sounds like I'm trying to sound smart, profound, things of that nature, or the opposite, be assured that I'm not trying at all. And, because of that, take everything you read here with a grain of salt, because it's all just spilling out of my brain with no filter or thought to what it says, and I don't really read this section enough to bother to edit most of its body. But it shouldn't really matter, if you get to know me or if you already do, you'll know how much of this is legit and vice versa.

...And I love Touhou Project. Inazuma Eleven and Osu!, too. All for different reasons, but I'd say how invested I am in the aforementioned is enough to be listed here.
