I don't know how difficult it would be, because I haven't used any of the other RPG Maker programs. It definitely shouldn't be a Kickstarter project, though - Pokémon Essentials is strictly free, and attempting to make money from it in any way is just not on. It's also recreating a Pokémon game, so Nintendo would have something to say about it if you try to make money out of it.

Pokémon Essentials is the name of a game made with RMXP. It has a bunch of custom scripts and resources that make it look like a Pokémon game. The key part is that it hasn't been completed, and is distributed in project form so that other people can modify it however they like.

Essentials is only compatible with RMXP because it's an RMXP game. There is some code in it that helps with compatibility for RMVX, but I don't know how well that works. In any case, I have no intention of moving it to another RPG Maker program.
