  • To insert the code just hit cheat list. Then paste the code in either gameshark or cheat depending on which code you have. Then hit ok and ok again. Then hit save list. If you have any other questions just ask. Some people are just so arrogant and cant keep their rude remarks like "that is not relevant to rom hacking" to themselves.

By the way you might have to get a master code or "M" code to make the code work.
oh hey... i'm srry... it was like 5 am for me and i didn't get any sleep, so i just posted that and crashed :P.... did you need some help?
Just busy. I have some many things to do I have to start cutting things off. I would say helping people but I can't just leave a fellow ROM hacker in need.
I hope you don't mind, since it's easier for me to explain things in real time. My AIM name is lucbuifur...just send me a message whenever you need some help.
Finding APE offsets is hard to explain, it would be easier to explain over something like AIM or MSN, and I don't wanna clutter up your visitor page. I'm sure there's a tutorial somewhere anyway. I'm doing well in school, I'm a freshman in college :)
Seriously? We don't hack for money or to make a name for ourselves. We do it because it's fun. If you're willing to pay someone to do a little work for you regarding a hobby that you'll probably abandon in the next few months, then you seriously need to reevaluate your priorities.
For your first question, ignore the first two zeroes. The pointer would be 50 15 38 08. For the second question, offsets are backwards in the hex. As i said before, ($ABCDEF becomes EF CD AB 08), so 3F089C would be 9C 08 3F 08
Assuming you have a hex editor: Open up your Rom in it. If you consult the pointers in the spoiler on that tutorial (Assuming you have Firered BPRE and are editing the map of Kanto), you need the pointer $3F089C. Take the offset of your tilemap, and turn it into a pointer ($ABCDEF becomes EF CD AB 08). Using the hex editor, search for "9C 08 3F 08". Whenever you find that, replace it with the pointer of your tilemap.
No problem, you can do so much in NSE once you get the hang of it,
just glad I could help. :)
There are two versions of NSE, classic and 2.x. While classic does have the ability to edit the backsprites, I recommend you use 2.x. You're probably using the "Minisprite" version [Classic]
You can grab NSE 2.X here or in the toolbox.
Load your ROM in NSE 2.X, then click File>Navigate.
To the right, in the Navigate window, is a grey folder called POKEMON Open it, then open to BPRE/BackSprites.
There are folders containing all of the backsprites in firered.
NSE 2.X lets you edit all of the back-sprites and their palettes directly within the interface, no need to import or export anything!
    Oh!!!! I see :D
    Thanks xD
But this one wasn't made by DawnRyder and I like her tutorials since they're simpler and easier. Which is why I was anticipating her next tut for so long xD
But thanks for redirecting me there anyway. Now I can finally complete my titlescreen hack :)
Glad to be friends! If you need any help, don't hesistate to send me a VM, I'll try my best to answer quickly.
