No problem mate, I understand how life can get in the way of things..
I personally am against compulsory military service.. It's a roulette of death.. I think that you should be paid well for defending your country and you should have the choice to do so.. I don't really want to get into a debate about war though lol.. The next one will probably be fought by robots..
Haha I had my fun with programming, I could have put that time to better use, but I'm glad things happened the way they did.. I'm sure you have done a lot too.. It was weird that everyone sort of went their separate ways after the game dev boom of our generation..
I am on facebook man, why not PM me a link to your page? It would be good to keep in contact with you :)
I use msn about once a day, maybe you have an old email address of mine.. Or we could just be on at different times.. But yes, I'm not on very much anymore.. It was more fun when I didn't have to work and i could just use the internet all day lol..
Thanks for the compliment, I'm really desperate to keep some stability in my life atm..
How are you feeling about your compulsory military service? I'm happy you're going to uni, what do you plan to study?
It's great to hear that you still like to do something creative as a hobby :)
I've done a lot of other stuff since leaving game development too.. I worked on runescape bots and private servers with great enjoyment (becoming a well-respected member of their communities for a short period of time lol) and I saw the darker side of scripting with ddos wars played out weekly between communities.. I also learned encryption techniques, hosting servers and using SVN's to work on one project with many different team members..
My proudest moments included using programs for a purpose they were never intended for.. I made many macro's which created random patterns in MS-Paint at a very fast speed using a random tool and colour lol..
I also made a guitar-tab writer which would also randomly generate music.. The best part about that, was that I got to write the rules it obeyed (the rules of how to play music), although my musical knowledge was fairly limited, I managed to write in an interpreter for chords (putting chords which sound good in a certain order, eg. Play either a B# or A after a C#) and also a "solo" simulator, which would move around the fretboard in a random way while staying in key with a certain scale (the blues scale was what I tested with)
I'm sorry I do ramble on a little bit.. Anway, I've also been out of contact with a lot of people from way back.. I speak to Rm2k3kid sometimes, and I heard from DM31 a few years back (He stopped making pokemon games and started trying to do scrolling shooters but I only heard from him that one time sadly).. Avatar still seems very active but he's much more into the art side of the community I think.. I don't really speak to him because he's a very busy person and I don't want to take up his time..
Anyway I'd better stop there, i've given you more than enough to read :p
I'll have to work on my summarizing skills lol..
That's great man.. But I feel like my game making days are behind me lol..
I feel like my project will end up another discontinued combination of possibilities..
Of course I remember you man, I remember heaps of stuff about you, like when we were working on the first rm2k3 battle system and you came up with an awesome phone system :)
What are you up to thesedays anyway? I'm working my way up the career ladder of the labourer.. I'm on good money doing a really cool job and i've finally found an amazing girl.. I feel like I just want to enjoy things while they are so good atm.. I'll probably continue my development in some ways but it will become more of a hobby than a mission.. I've also lost a lot of drive because my pokemon know-it-all became inactive..
I also came up with a really cool idea for 3d in rmxp, and some idiot stole it straight away lol.. I mean, honor really is dead to most people in the dev subforums, everything inspirational gets abused..
