That's true, with Whitney and Clair being the worst of the three "issues" as Jasmine was taking care of her Pokemon and didn't want to leave it's side, while the other two simply acted like children...
I see it more as Karen replacing Lance rather than any of the two girls (meaning the three were replace with members of the opposite sex). I wonder why GF decided to replace those two in Gen II...especially considering that Lorelei is young and Agatha seems like the type that would rather die than give up her position (perhaps she did die, but I would imagine her good friend Oak would mention something). GF tried to remedy this in FrLg, but it was dumb seeing how the player got rid of Team Rocket in the Sevii islands...now if only we could've returned to 4 Island to see what Lorelei was doing...
I knew there was another one. Perhaps that was to make Gen 4 more of a Gen II expy. Anyways Gen II really is the most male dominated League (even it's gyms have only 3 girls irc (Whitney, Jasmine, and Clair)).
Quite possibly. It took 4 Gens to get a female champ (we now have 3 versus 5) and still no female villain. But all of the E4's minus Gen II's had a 1:1 ratio of M and F. It would had been 1:1 if Lorelei or Agatha had stayed, or even 3:1 with Karen replacing Lance over happy mask.
I'm not surprised with Tauros , really. Boys in my school were talking about it along Arcanine, Scyther, Magmar,, Electabuzz and Pinsir. I guess it was similar there, right?
Let's see the Alakazam was demoted out of OU once, but Magic Guard and later on his newly introduced Mega saved him. Chansey was saved by Eviolite in Gen V. Dragonite gained her Multiscale in Gen V on time, she's gonna rave the party if she gets a Mega someday and fortunately she has access to both Iron Tail and Iron Head. Slowbro was struggling, but that Mega saved him and Shelley or whatever you call that thing. It's getting difficult for Starmie, she's still up there but as new mons and new toys come in, she's gonna get demoted eventually if Game Freak don't upgrade her with new toys. Zapdos and Gengar are standing firmly and while they've even awarded the latter one with a Mega.
Victreebel at a top tier once, though. Is definitely a shocker.
I like how Fire-types received that treatment though, the only thing that made Fire special was the anime and a few Pokémon with their 'cool' appearance. If it weren't the introduction of Steel-type in Gen II, most Fire-types are gonna fall deep into the limbo in Gen IV because of that nasty Stealth Rock and a few Rock-types move getting popular.
I'm surprised that Lorelei has so few fans. You know back in FireRed she struck me as the most impressive of the E4 due to having the least copies of her mons, plus she was one of the most difficult (hard to imagine she was more so in Gen I according to you). Bruno was weak, Agatha could be destroyed with a good psychic type. Lance was the second hardest...I had to choose between taking ice types or electric types to defeat the original Kanto E4.
Ah and Ice moves were neutral to Fire Pokémon too, plus that Special stat which makes them as the second Special-move spammer/sponge back then. Those were the days of our youth, Betty.~ *drinks tea*
The introduction of Steel and Dark-types really helped promoting the Fighting-types. Hmm it's really similar to how Poison and Steel-types (moves) are popular nowadays. *sips tea*
- Were the first games (duh)
- Introduced some great, iconic Pokémon and characters
- Yellow had great sprites for the time and did a good job of mixing RB's setting up with anime influences
Someone is obviously missing from that list.
Well in real life there are times that we need to pick a path; no matter which one you pick there's going to be a regret in certain degree. :') Sometimes you just can't have them all.~
Yes, because nothing says "exploration" like a lab aide giving you Flash for catching 10 Pokémon or getting Strength by talking to a sailor in a restaurant.
The motivation to go to the next town and get the next badge should be enough to want you to explore. Plus, things like Legendaries and plot exist.
Well, you picked the most ordinary examples. I meant more like HM03 in RBY and HM07 in GSC.
You don't get it, though. A game where you play as a Gym Leader or E4 Member would have a completely different playstyle than the standard Main Series formula. It would be more story-based and not revolve around the get 8 badges/beat Evil Team/become Champion formula.
You see, this reaction is why GF is so conservative about breaking the formula. Not pointing fingers at you or anything, but far too many people look at the games solely through a competitive battling lens and riot if a game doesn't let them build their "perfect team" for beating other people with or have the "metagame" as an end goal. This is why a certain section of the fandom automatically dismisses any and all spinoffs, regardless of whether or not the games actually deserve it.
I see what you mean.
If this was made they'd need to add the full Pokédex, I think. I wonder if you could "unlock" types as you played, because it's undeniable that some types are stronger than others.
