  • You're not wrong. If I disagree with somebody I feel compelled to propose my view and either educate or be educated, which way it goes isn't really the point. This is mostly true on the internet, of course. It's a bit undesirable to be so confrontational in the real world It's perhaps not the healthiest compulsion in general, but I wouldn't say there is anything amoral about it, either.

In all honesty, drama is the least of my concerns, until the actual personal attacks start, in which case I like to think I jump ship.

Take an example - the discussion with Colours right now. I started by replying to her criticism of another view. She's certainly entitled to her opinion, but I don't agree with it. Truth be told, I don't especially think that we will see Kalos in Sun and Moon. I certainly don't dismiss the idea, though, I'd say it's actually moderately likely.

If she had simply said she didn't think we would return to Kalos for X, Y and Z reasons (there's an unintentional joke there I just noticed), I wouldn't really have batted an eye. The issue was more the confrontational stance she took to the prospect, calling it 'apples and oranges'. I feel at that point, you've kind of thrown yourself into the deep end and you should be prepared to take any and all criticism, otherwise you're a bit hypocritical. And all things considered, picking an argument apart and taking it as literally as possible is the best and most useful method, just not the one people like.

I disagree that dissecting a flawed post is an attack, but I suppose your point was more that people just see it that way. That's a bit out of my control, and I don't really feel like I should hold my opinions back to soften the blow. Nor do I feel like I should just pick a couple of them so they don't feel overwhelmed. You could probably make a counterargument here if I was just digging into literally every post I ever read, but I like to think I'm saving such treatment for the Round Table and people who really deserve it. A key example being people who are already criticising others, in which case they should be open to it, I think.

Just a bit of mindless ramble about how I hate changing and would rather be right than be liked by people on the internet who's opinions I disagree with. :P
I try to use it sparingly, but find myself spamming it on every occasion that I get, hehe.
