I "fear government" because there has never been a government that has not exploited its people over time. Its inefficient and evil. It violates the basic rights of humans- life and property. Government is the cause for wars, poverty, and many other issues we have today. You can blame it on religion, but its governments fault because those are theocracies.

How does it hurt the community or family? The drug user, unless he is committing acts of violence, has done nothing wrong. If he ruins his relationship with his family, its his problem. Banning a drug for "feelings" is illogical.

It's a true treasure of the internet hahaha

Amazing posts and people get absolutely roasted when they try and troll and post up photos of zooper doopers or other icypoles, or post up photos with "non-blokes" lol it's brilliant

But I own myself, and no one else does. What right does anyone else have to stop me from taking the drugs? Its a victimless crime and only hurts me. Not to mention, the same argument for legalizing marijuana is applied here. Drug cartels will retain some power with hard drugs illegal, which means more violence. With hard drugs legal, they lose all of their power because the market will provide cheaper and safer drugs. And its not like the "War on Drugs" even achieves anything: people get the drugs anyways, both police and the innocent victims are killed, its used to militarize the police, and it wastes tons of tax dollars.

I believe legalizing marijuana has 4 benefits: lessened police state and less overcrowding of prisons, medical benefits, reduce power of gangs and El Chapo-like groups, and right to self ownership. For the last reason, I believe it is wrong to tax marijuana. So it looks like we mostly agree here.

Why should the hard stuff be illegal?

yay! I didnt know that was possible! I think we mostly agree on social issues- we disagree more on the economics.

Opinion on legalizing soft drugs and hard drugs? Should they be legalized fully, but taxed. Should only soft drugs be legalized?

I agree with you. By bombing them, we make innocent people die or become terrorists. Especially in the US, our imperialism caused 9/11 and us being in the middle east just destabilizes the region and makes us less safe. Not to mention its just adding to our 19 trillion dollar debt. I also believe we should cut off all foreign aid because it just takes from the poor in our country and gives it to the rich in other countries (I agree with Bernie Sanders on this issue with corporate subsidies).

Yea I'm sort of in the middle as well with immigration. I believe we should let anyone in (get out of the middle east first so there are little to no terrorists coming in), but not provide the immigrants with any form of subsidies. idk how background checks could really be on refugees and such. It would just be a waste of tax dollars, and prevent people who want to immigrate get potentially rejected and sent back.

I am pro-immigration reforms. I believe our system should allow for more immigration to reduce illegal immigration (i dont have a problem with illegals, it would just prevent them from being deported back, and now they can officially live a better life in society). Immigration can have many good effects, and to all of the people who say, "they steal our jobs," one cannot steal a job because it is not property- it is a trade agreement.

Definitely not haha. We could go at this forever lol.

Darn, you aren't from the US. Well, you provide an alternative point of view I guess. Do you think countries (like the US) should be fighting ISIS? Should we adopt a closed or open border policy (or something in the middle)?

Government creates monopolies. There is no example of a monopoly without government intervention. Free markets lead to adding value to the currency as productivity increases and a gold standard is set with competing currencies.

Class divide is caused by government regulation: thousands upon thousands of regulations hurt small businesses and the poor, but not big corporations (being funded by the government) and even just large businesses. The Federal Reserve prints and prints and prints without a gold standard (which Clinton finally destroyed), causing the rich to get richer, and the poorer to get poorer. The rich use welfare programs to make themselves gain power.

Ill admit I have not been in a situation where I have needed medical care I couldn't afford (not to mention, I have been really healthy, luckily). And in a system where people can do what they want with their property, these people will be treated better, faster, and cheaper without massive theft! My heart goes out to these people (which is why I do so many charity stuff), and I truly care about them! Tell me when you read the essay.

Again, the upper class cannot take advantage of the lower classes. These upper classes are literally controlled by consumers! Socialism is just one giant monopoly and a terrible economics system that hurt the people they try to help. Just look at Scandinavia (not Socialist, but certain socialist policies are literally destroying them).

Of course! Thats just the fun of it lol. xD Im going to read "Economics in One Lesson" soon, and apparently its really good for learning economics in just a few hours. Maybe then we can get somewhere. The reason why I am fighting so hard for free markets is for two reasons: the utilitarian aspects (its far superior) and the morals. Only a free market can have true freedom without violence. Even crime can be reduced.

Maybe we should also talk about something we agree on? Like war maybe?

About Me

  • About gimmepie
    Hi whoever is reading this

I'm gimmepie (obviously not my actual name, but I prefer not to use that on PC). I'm 19 years old, have high-funtioning autism and am an Australian. Currently I am studying Primary School Education at university and I work somewhat casually as a ballroom dance coach at my studio.

This is my third year now as a member of PC and I thoroughly enjoy it here. You can primarily find me typing up a storm in the Roleplay Corner or quite often sharing my love of music in the song-rating thread in Forum Games but I tend to pop up in all kinds of places.

I like to think I'm a friendly guy, albeit stubborn and opinionated, so if you feel like talking just drop me a VM or PM and I'll probably reply as soon as I see it.

PC Supporter since 2014 (Currently Crystal Tier)
Moderator of the Roleplay Theatre since June 2015
Moderator of the Round Table since September 2015

Most RPs GM'd at once: Six (I'm pretty sure that's a record but I dunno)
My interests are pretty varied and they keep me sane when I'm supposed to be studying.

As I said before I teach at my local ballroom studio, I also train there myself as I am also a competitor. Dancing is one of the most important parts of my life.

I also love music, a very wide range of it too. I listen to everything from Rock to rap to country. My favourite band is Linkin Park but there are many other artists I love (far too many to list here so VM me if you're curious).

Pokemon has been a part of my life since I was about six. My first game was Pokemon Stadium for the N64 and I watched the anime religiously. These days I'm still in love with the franchise and I buy the main series games whenever they come out. I also sometimes battle on PCs Showdown server. These days I'm not as fond of the anime, but I haven't seen X/Y yet so I don't know.

I am a big lover of improvisational and stand-up comedy. I am arguably the biggest fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway in my country and I spend hours watching it and stand-up shows. I often consider giving stand-up a shot, but I struggle to be funny on cue and I don't have a very good stage presence.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I do enjoy a bit of gaming sometimes. My favourite game is The Last of Us but Starcraft 2 is a close second.

I am an anime lover and, unlike Western shows with which I am very picky about genre, I will watch almost any genre. My favourite anime of all time is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

Weekly Music Mince

It's the end of the week again which means it's time for another Music Mince, this time flavoured with some actual thought about each song according to the original format I used.

I've been listening to a lot of music this past week so it was really hard to narrow things down to ten choices, but here they are. Enjoy!

Number One
Song: Not Strong Enough
Artist: Apocalyptica ft. Brent Smith

Will Teach For Money

Well as a lot of you are aware, I'm currently studying to become a teacher... or at least I should be. Truth be told though, six months of this year are going to have equated to exactly zero study due to my university messing things up. During my last study period they lost my enrolment - there goes three months of uni - and this study period they managed to enrol me for the next SP instead of the current one.

This has put in a bit of a predicament.

As many of you likely know at this point (since I haven't shut up about it for so long), this Saturday passed was the day of a fundraising event at my dance studio in which the available members of our competitive team performed show dance numbers as entertainment.

The numbers consisted of a rumba to Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, performed by one of our team members and his younger sister (his partner was away), a gothic themed New Vogue medley to

So Close to Show Time

So as I have mentioned before, September marks the month that my dance partner and I will debut as a partnership. We've been working very hard and things are coming along quite nicely, so I'm optimistic about the future right now and really hyped to get the show on the road.

Our first competition will be on the 20th of September, a competition that is already set to mark an influx of new couples in our division. I'm really happy to see the field
