Well, in terms of the difficulty curve, there were quite a few parts where the player moves through areas that offers great grinding opportunities, without really feeling like grinding, since you were just moving through the caves and fields. By the time I made it to a 'boss' battle, my team was roughly the same level. I was also able to catch surprisingly powerful Pokemon early on as well, and that made a huge difference.

    Your thoughts on this?

It's nice that we can share opinions without flame wars and troll battles lol. I get enough of that on other forums lol.

I've also taken a look at that BW2 Repel system before as I think many have. Not sure its quite so simple. What made porting the item hack easy is that I already had the offsets from Fire Red and Ruby to work with, so it was easy to compare the two and then find out what the common bytes are.
I use a hex editor called Hex Edit lol, its not ideal (I still use HxD as well) but its the first one I found that does wildcard searches. So basically you could take:
    32 4A 90 08 22 73 FF
    and then search for:
    ?? ?? ?? 08 ?? ?? FF

Another nice way to find offsets is to search for pointers. So if you know that a certain offset in Fire Red is for eg. 0x329832 but you are battling to find data that matches in Emerald, then search for 32983208 in Fire Red and try to match the data you find there and work backwards, if you get what I'm saying.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply, I've been a bit down and out. But I'm tired of being down and out.
For a long time I have wanted to get Emerald hacked the same way Fire Red is, news of the Hoenn remakes has discouraged me somewhat though.. I will be happy to share any existing notes I have on anything (I don't know if its anything too spectacular) in case I disappear again. Or I will actually share them in the Emerald research thread.

How far are you on the 649 expansion? I've ironed out all but one bug with the tutorial so I'm just wondering if there's any problems that occur with going to 649/721.

Sorry, yeah I missed it. Ummm, it looks like maybe Emerald's table is just a lot shorter.

Did you try looking backwards? You may be starting in the middle of the table.

You can also try getting the offset by just opening up UnLZ and scrolling through. The battle bgs are normally very close to the beginning in the double didgets.

No. I do my researches that same way like ASM hackers. But I know that all things by ASM can be did by HEX editing. Is only need time and tries of systems. No. My system is not lucky. Is system which give you more abilities without using ASM. For hacks which need add 25 pokemon by repleacing Placeholders is ideal way without hard ASM working. Well... So sad that you can't understand that. I do not want talk with you anymore. I wait for day when you understand my ideas.

You are typical Hater. You do not found own method and everything you can is hating someone who found working method. EXPANDING POKEDEX DO NOT NEED ASM. I wait for day when you understand that. And stop blindly following karatekid552 or other ASM hackers. I working now for found other NO ASM methods. It was take an time. But in result can give great effect. Also. You think that editing DirectSound need ASM? Suprise. NO! Special hex string. And changing code <In the begining of rom> 00 C5 to 00 C7 give better music. But it was not true that Pokemon Ruby suport 7 instrument. Really it suport 8 of them. Changing for c9 do cause that music do not play.
