About Me

  • About Laughing Octopus
    Biography
    I am the young woman who would come to be best known by the curious and devilish “Laughing Octopus”. Naturally, that's not the alias my parents gave me. I was born in a largely unknown and rural seaside town in Scandinavian, playfully called by its residents the "Devil's Village". Our main staple and economic niche were the copious amount of octopus that can be fished along our humble shores. The octopus, ironically and casually called the devil's fish, is why my town inherited its rather unusual name. However, for reasons I still doesn't fully understand, an anonymous cult whose practices delved into the dark and mystic, had established itself just outside of the village, near the edges of our most popular fishing quarry. These cultists, consisting largely of people not native to my village, took up a terribly twisted and sinister demeanor, possibly in an effort to cure us of our name sake. They turned to petty crimes against the residents, sabotaging our fishing vessels so we could no longer hunt for the octopus on which we lived and poisoning the shores to destroy the sensitive ecosystem for the creatures. They had systematically disassembled not only my home town and my people, but the entire balance of my whole world. But the hatred only escalated, as it tends to do. Before I knew it, all out war had broken out between the cult's members and small militant factions of my village. Despite the ongoing hostilities, I lived fairly comfortably in the village until the time I grew into a young teenager.

    The conflict between my people and this cult had never reached my family's secure little home, but we had learned the hard way that those people were just bidding their time. On one cold night, the cult lashed out with all the strength of their mysticism, peoples, and war machines. Those monsters had spent the past few years accumulating ammunition and heavy weaponry in their ultimate goal to eliminate my village in one deadly overnight assault. And though my people fought bravely, the battle and its spoils were relinquished to the cult, along with any remaining survivors who were systematically lined up and executed. One shot to the head, and it was over for my people.

    But then there was me. A mere child, already dismissed the promise of a future. As though they knew I was ready to die, they denied me the relief from my troubles only death could bring. However, remaining alive was a fate far worse. They called me the Devil's Child and kept me locked away, only until I was summoned in order to help my captors raid my village and torture my people. As I stood, crying over the smiling face of my own relatives while they nodded knowingly, the cult's leader threatened to kill me if I didn't inflict death to my own loved ones. If it wasn't enough, they forced me to smile and laugh while pointing a semiautomatic rifle towards my own family and shooting.

    I killed all of them.

    So here I am, broken and alone. Released from my captors as a single entity thriving on pain. oAlone with nothing but my mission to save the little girl within me from the unknown. Sometimes, when I'm camouflaged and no one can see me, it takes everything I am not to laugh. I laugh and laugh and laugh. The urge is especially strong when my blood lust is surging. It's funny, you know, the way people die. The blood, the sobs, the sounds. The way they beg for my mercy. But, I wasn't shown any mercy that day, was I? In fact, I'm doing them a favor by killing them. I am a killing machine;

    and I am unstoppable.
