Wait for the ink to dry when you're overlapping your lines in pen. I learned that will really smudge and smear badly (I use calligraphy pens with felt tips rather than standard ballpoints, but it's the same principle). Still, actual drawing pencils make a huge difference. They erase cleaner and there's less graphite dust drag if you inadvertently place/drag your hand over part of the paper where you just erased. It makes all the difference when scanning, but even more so if you want to avoid smudges while erasing.

Well, I kind of messed up the last inking, so I had to draw it again from scratch. Oh, do you use graphite drawing pencils or school-grade No. 2s? I've found that the ones made for actual drawing make all the difference because the graphite doesn't smudge as much with the softness graded one, and even if it does, it's not a major issue because you can go back over and erase again to clean it up better. Just a thought. The change of pencils made a huge difference right away.

    Haha, okay.

    Indeed. Here's hoping!

Good luck with the planning. That sounds pretty ambitious with the length! Don't rush it. Mine is another Pokemon fic, going to be a slice-of-life style one.

I assume you mean content over contempt. ;p

And don't worry too much about making an article asap, comments on the existing ideas helps too for instance. Or finding a fanwork for the seel/dewgong line too, that needs starting. I posted feedback to your thread at any rate.

Yay for picking up new skills!

Fair enough then, that cuts mine out, haha. But I'll hopefully have a fic out within a few months! It's a biggie. On that note, how is your writing going?

Yeah, I'm not so crazy because Australia, man. We're far away from a lot. :< If I have a uni trip to europe I'd likely take time off to explore some of it though!

Looks good now, and the other one is fine as well! *thumbs up*

By that, I mean would ones not updated for months (or finished months ago), still count, even including those in the fic archive?

I've been to Poland a bunch of times because of family there. Not been for some years though. Also spent a day in Amsterdam on the way back last I was there. Other countries I've been to are New Zealand, Singapore and Japan.

*looks* Looks nice! Only nitpick is that there's a text overflow for the story of the week section to the right - it's going out of the orange square ('..and link' part, first line of that text).

On that note, hum, story of the week. Hopefully that shall help! Question - would there be a cut to how 'recent' the story is to be submitted? If not I'd submit suggestions. ;p And are we also going to do that thing dave mentioned in *that* thread?

I have visited America, but that was many years ago (maybe 15+?) Went to disneyland and etc for a few days before going to Poland then. So it'd be neat to see even if it's mostly to be at a conference and little else.

Uluru would also be neat to talk to people about astronomy and what it is, and probably also get a better idea of what people know about it.

Well, if you're still having trouble and know what you generally want it to look like, let me know and I'll have a go. Haven't actually poked around at those outlines yet so would need to check those out first.

Uh... can I say all of them? XD America will be neat because first uni-related overseas trip, and will meet with a whole bunch of people in the same field or research as myself/my project team. Perth are will be neat because that's the annual astronomical society of australia conference which goes for a week, which I went to last year (it was in sydney so no real great trip). Just before that is a winter school for students as well for a few days which I hope to go to this year as well. And uluru will be neat because it's in the middle of nowhere, and that means a fantastic night sky. Also giant rock. :V Meanwhile people who've done that trip have all said good things about it, so!

I can always help out with that when I have time (at uni rn though), as I know a bit about css and the likes. Less than other people on here but enough to put up my own sigs and make a basic website out of, haha.

I will visit America for a week or less in March! (New Jersey). Also will have a trip in July to Perth or thereabouts, Western Australia, the one state/territory I haven't visited here. And then in early September I'll go to Uluru/Ayre's Rock for two weeks to talk to the general public about astronomy, that'll be cool.

Better late than never? :p Still, contributions would be nice, kinda quiet this month. :<

Slow is better than chaotic I suppose. No homework is good too. I've finished my coursework now so the rest here on in is research work!

Stuff is fine. Fair bit to keep me busy at uni, and meanwhile am looking at potential places to move out to with a friend.

Yeah, well, I'm practicing detailing too. I don't know...I have better time drawing the baseline for the background first, then adding characters, objects, etc. I'm also working on a different picture as part of a request I took up for someone, wherein his otter OCs (both brothers) are recast as babies and the older one comforting his little bro by giving him his teddy bear. It didn't start so well, so I had to redraw it from scratch, but the new version's turning out a lot better.

    Biography
My guess is that you saw my bold blue name and wanted to know a bit more about me. Well, you've come to the right place!

As far as pokemon goes, my first game was Black. My parents didn't want me engulfed by the franchise when I was young, so they never let me do anything pokemon. I felt like I was missing out, bought Black on a school band trip my sophomore year of high school, and I've been hooked ever since. A word of warning, since I came into the franchise so late, I have a tendency to mix up my earlier generations, so please be a little understanding in regards to that.

I do enjoy competitive battling, and I dare say that my grass team and NU team are pretty good! So, if you ever want to battle, drop me a message and I'll do my best to get back to you. Since I don't have wifi at my house, it will have to be on Showdown. I'm almost always up for a battle or two, so don't be shy about asking.

As far as non-pokemon stuff goes, I also enjoy writing. Well, it's kind of obvious at this point, but I really do enjoy it. I think it would be amazing to become a professional writer someday, and I'm giving my best shot at it. I have yet to send anything out to publishers, mainly because I'm a bit too nervous to take that step, but I hope to send something out soon. Now whether that actually gets published is a different story, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

If you're interested in writing, don't be afraid to leave me a message! I love getting mail, and it would be awesome to hear from you. If you have any questions about the writing craft, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. I'm still sort of new to writing, when compared to some of you old folk, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities.

I've been modding FF&W ever since November 8th, 2013, and I really enjoy it. I get to help people develop their skills and be in a community with fellow writers. What's better than that?
    Interests
I also like roller coasters and I play the trumpet, french horn, mellophone (a french horn for marching band), and flugel.

I've already posted an announcement about this, but hey, the more areas I advertise the better, right?

Anyway, Story of the Week is something I've tried in the past, but it didn't quite work because of a lack of participants. It's free advertising with minimal effort, so I never really got why it crashed. Hopefully, with your help, we can make it succeed this time around, because that would be pretty cool.

All you have to do is send a link to your story to me explaining...

Okay, so this is my response to Dakota's blog. I was tagged by Zach, and I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Dakota's blog explaining what this all is can be found here:

Now, you can do the exact same thing, but with a thread in FF&W! Thanks to the new [Nonfiction] prefix, your essays, opinion papers, and creative nonfiction now have their own happy, little home surrounded by other literature pieces where they belong. Alright, so many of you have noticed that I have started a sign-up for a creative writing class. For those of you that haven't noticed, then read on!

Since I think school does a terrible job of teaching creative writing and several people have expressed their interest in it, I'm going to be attempting to teach a creative writing right here on PC. I certainly don't know everything about writing, so this is just going to be an introductory course. Everything you need to know about this...

Hello everyone!

Some of you know that I have been off at a writing conference for the past few days. I'm heading back tomorrow, but insomnia strikes tonight, so I may as well write about it now. I'm just going to tell you about what I learned about not just writing, but about the writers themselves.

The more and more panels I went to, the more and more I learned something. Now, these panels were about a huge variety of topics ranging from asking how many readers is...
