Hey, Aurincha, don't worry 'bout Ivysaur. He's mine♥! -- I actually goto some lengths to stick to my claims, at least in the Poké and Series threads.

You know I definitively shouldn't be doing this. Wall-o-text-es I mean, because my thesis is getting quite complicated, more with me spending time in "less socially acceptable" acts such as writing fanfiction... I even managed to release a story that I was working on for a while instead of spending those ~8000 words in something more important like, you know, describing the State of the Art.

Oh and now that you mentiones physics and I mentioned SotA, thanks a lot for the quote on the Planck constant. The quote is great, I'd take it but a) I don't know the original source and b) your Vincent!Love quote is still too. damn. cool. to replace. Waveparticles and spatial measurement derivation is one of these things that I understand about physics despite the fact that don't understand several SIMPLER things such as three-dimensional completely-unelastic collision dynamics. Or exponential factor for liquid cooling. Or angular momentum. I mean COME ON! Momentum! I'm a weird case. Yes? Of course I am. I mean, who else can enjoy writing a Pokémon fanfiction about a lump with tentacles who sees humans as tubes with a head while complaining that the guy who came up with one-strike correction patterns for GTIN-12 encoded sequences projected on neck skin made the producers of Dark Angel look like a bunch of six-graders?

    Oh, yeah, maybe you... :D

Hey what's the next field we can wreck talk about? Military-grade water course weaponry?

And yeah, XKCD is too big a thing. Maths, computers, social criticism and the like. It's my most favourite web comic (seconded closely by VGCats). I recall the author making some number of Pokémon references down the way, one of them a small sketch with a lamb thrusting some sort of beam against a cactus... and several people mistook it for a Mareep!
Besides it is one of my private envys. I mean, I can draw humans as stick figures too (the only way I can draw them), but still... Black-hat man? The truck comic you mentioned is a WIN (mostly because when I tried with my partners at Electromagnetism 2 we couldn't solve the problem ).

Ther'es another comic where he drives a nuclear submarine up through the ice casket in the Arctic to recover his hat from a girl I think. And then his version of a popular kind of joke...

It's good to see that you'll soon live one of your dreams with the Journey to Japan thing. I wanted to ask where in Japan are you leaving to, since well Japan is a big country. Oh and if that means I won't be seeing you for a while that's a shame, as I wanted to ask you if we could be Wall-o-Text cousins or couple or something like that, with all the PC family thing. Actually I wanted to ask you to explain me all that PC family stuff, but then I found a FAQ... -- By the time you come back I'll try and have a review of Mama's Boy's newest chapter. Yes, I noticed. Of course I did. Don't you think this is a poke for you to advance on Secret People, that would be just your wild imagination.

About the conference thing, no, I'm more like an "open counselor". I was asked to certify that the public opinions on matters of internet privacy are correctly reflected (or not) in a set of specific web sites and forums. Basically I translate from C++-speak → technobbable → telemarketing → forumspeak → technobabble (again) → ethic. Then the other guy (the Senator) tries to translate to Legalese. Stiill it is a very fun thing to do, and it will only last till September. I am not being payed but still am credited and recommended by my work so it's not much of an issue. Part of the reason why I use a penname to publish my stories is internet privacy (the other part is, fundamentally, that most of the fandoms I move around have a very bad fame where I live, and then there's the legal issue). I've taken time to construct at least five personalities in the Internet, one of which is the actual projection of my real persona (with real data and such) which I use for official matters, and the four others vary according the parts of the web where I surf. This particular personality is weak because I use it too much (I spend several hours at a time at the Lounge, mind you...) but is still not a major concern.

What is a major concern, and maybe I didn't tell you this before, was that in the conference previous to mine, about six months before, the main expositor, working for our national (C) and (R) agency, made his presentation with pirated copies of Windows and Office and the video of the "You have a pirated copy of Windows" activation dialog was leaked out to national TV (and of course the intertubes). That was FUN.

Now, I should really be leaving. You know, if I don't I won't, and that's quite a problem. It may happen to me like what happens to you, that is that the whole text ends up becoming a Wall-o-Text™, a thing we should Trademark™ or something...

...And, of course. it did. I mean look at what I wrote!

Oh and thanks for throwing the four seasons thing right in my face. Now I am looking at the torrential rain outside. And thinking why can't I live in Canada (which is my "live anywhere" dream).

Best wishes, and expecting to see you soon.

Hey, wall-o-text pal, Pokémon Claim Thread Reclaim Period is going on now. Just wanted you to know, as usual.

    I'll be seeing you.

Sorry Aurincha, but I'm having trouble with my thesis so I'll be unpokrable for a while, maybe till next week. But hey, you can always poke me to your heart's content and I'll eventually Wall-o-Text you back for each and every one.

He, you want a Block-o-text(™)? Who do you think I am??? :D Hey, I've been a bit forgetful these days but let's see if I can contribute anything. That's because Block-o-texts are quite a fun thing to write, I let go the lash on my mind and let my weirdness to its job to keep me as a social almost-outcast! As, some people complain that I talk too much (while my family complains the opposite) and then they wonder what the hiccipus I mean with things such as Gunblade, EV Training, monk rush, or rm -rf /. :D

    So, yeah, poke taken.

Last thing I remember we wall-o-texted each other was about XKCD, Soft rulzzz'ing for scientific research in the Real World, the (quoting you) lousy story about how Finland became independant, and how I ended up being "summoned" to work. It was quite fun, although it was also getting shorter by the time.

I really love XKCD. not only because of the use of maths, sci-fi references and velociraptors, but also because the art style renders everything simplistic and gives me an idea of "Oh, come on, things should really be this simple!. There are only a couple of jokes I did not understand at the first time, but I eventually got them and laughed, too. The ones regarding Black Hat Guy are, for the lack of a better combination of words, Awesome Canned.

I'm amused to see that you like integrals. I hate 'em with a death pulsion, to be truthful. I canderive any function given some time and a can of soda, but for the life of me I can't integrate anything that is even barely more complicated than a polynomial. And don't get me started on trigonometric conversions: I can't get how did people account for these with all the sudden radixes inside semirational denominators! Thank god I at least learnt how to use the udv -> v du trick.

I'd rather take four yes FOUR Algebra courses in one semester than one Calculus course. As a matter of fact, I kinda got the trick of Non-Associative Quasi-Ring Algebras after only one week, but because of their lack of real-world use (at the time, circa 2002), I didn't study them further. What kind of interesting and kinda obscure ramification of maths (besides Calculus :D) do you like?

You know, after the Soft thing I thought that yeah, you're right, chopped fossils are of not much use, but the item themselves would still rock to do research on small remnants such as leaves, seeds, and, given the chance, insects. I guess that should add a +15 to the interest and weirdness factor of applied, on-field science!

So, yeah, I was away in a conference, and, you know, somehow my presentation was scheduled right after one of our Senators explayed himself on the topic of how my country has failed to bring modern and adequate legislation regarding Internet privacy and Digital Rights (note, not! DRM, but "User Rights"). Then I explayed myself on how to use some Free Software tools to improve privacy and anonymity, and the day next to that I receive a mai in my inbox, from the Senator's CoS, that they wanted to contact me and ask for advice on the ways to bring media attention to the matter of internet privacy. What's made even more incredible because two days before our conference, a TV special showed how some pedophiles in my country absolutely FAIL to protect their privacy and end up easily caught. Fortunately I was asked no questions on the subject...

Regarding my country, I live about 500km south of Santiago, at an area where wheather is quite bipolar (dry summer and rainy winter, with almost nothing in between). I don't really give too much info through this medium, but feel free to ask via PM if you're interested. Here where I live we're the terrain is kinda sunk because of the erosio of two close mountains, towards the city river, in such a way that the city landscape acts as a sort of conveyor for air currents. That means that as long as there's windy action up the cordillera, our air is clean and shiny and we get no diseases whatsoever, but as soon as the chills stop, the concentration of particulated material (in particular PM-12 such as tinder) grows exponentially and we all have to use masks... I actually took part of a study in my former collegue about that, and we were about to join forces with a German institute to perform mesoscale (ie.: region-wide) simulations and convection diagnostics using FORTRAN... and then the collegue's Dept. of Finances took out our budget. Shame... well those were the best times of my life, because I was working with all my friends so it was avery interesting work-in-the-family kind of dynamics (one example: we bought pizzas after every successful simulation, and enjoyed between the teachers, programmers and staff, even our secretary).

I can say that both my parent are from both Italian and Spaniard descent (sp?). My mother's Italian side is fro Capri, and my father's Italian side may be from Rome, I'm not sure. I ended up a nice interesting mixture of.. whatever. I don't really care too much about my lineage because I consider blood ties not to be determinant of one's personality or value unless one forges them by themself, like, from my mate and our cubs children downwards. Note that I don't mean I do have a mate , right now I am too busy for that...

Oh, well, I have to go now. Look, about your country's story, what about in the next wall-o-text when I get a chance, I'll talk about how my country obtained independence, and then we can span the VM system with wall-o-texts comparing notes and stuff? I guess it won't be long before everyone else who visits our VM pages go "WTF???!!!" :D

Hi, I'm a friend of Blahman117. I was just wondering if you could check out my thread at the writers' lounge. It's called "Kanto Lover's ides (don't ask, I was typing too fast) for Spliced". If you could, that'd be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I guess it is. I mean, somehow I ended up in the memetic end of a Memetic Mutation a couple of years ago at work, because of my FF fan-ness and somehow I would just arrive at the server room one minute after a problem as detected, do some console magic and solve the thing. Since then, yeah, "summoned". :D

The position I have to fill up is quite complicated: web pages protection against hacking, ad detection and anonimous browsing and participation statistics. And it's tomorrow afternoon. I should be more nervous (my actual core competence is only the anonymous browsing and statistics).

But I guess I can do some magic on-site and solve the problem. The main issue is that the conference staff has not contacted me to confirm the available hardware and equipment yet.

I trust our wall-o-texts will be a defining elements in our Visitor Message pages, all the way! Ye who look at thee, behold keyboard mashin masterness!

Hey, Aurincha, I'll be QUITE busy for the next two days. I've been summoned to a conference to fill in an expositor's place, and I was notified with too much short notice to prepare.

So the next Wall'o'Text will have to wait.

    Will be seeing you!

"Sorry for the block-o-text?" Come on, Aurincha, u kidding me! You know how much I love those! And for fanfiction, too! :D

You know, I kinda wanted to be a chemist when I was a kid, then I decided I wanted to be a news anchor (then again, I once wanted to be a mathemathician, but I was already too old* for that -- I was 15).

    * = check the alt-text :D

About the IRL items, one word two words: Master Ball. Just get close enough to a world leader and they'll unwillingly pledge absolute obedience. Then again, FF-wise, Magicite would be good provided you have a good supply, it's like having adaptable superpowers. But I concur that Hero Drinks would be awesome. I'm actually in dire need of them, otherwise I'm derailing gravely --- -2 STR and -1 CSM every day, because of my sickness. I thought your more biologist side would strive for Soft of all items, you know, the scientific value, but whatever, antidotes would be just too cool if they became universal.

I'm sorry to hear about your President. Here things are no better either and I don't pay too much attention anyway. And your lack of heroes too. Here we have some heroes (just Google "Arturo Prat" for some canned awesomeness), but their spirit is slowly dying under the pressure of urban tribes and corporate disruption.

But I think you're selling your people too short. I though I read once that the world record of hits by a sniper in times of war was held by a Finnish... or was it a Sweddish? And, AFAIK, your country holds one of the highest Human Development Index in Europe. Which in our world is a lot. Oh wait, I know! Linus Torvalds, thanks for reminding me of him. But, come on, don't you have any example of One Man Army in your history books? Or maybe a particulary mischievous strategical commander? How did your coutry got independence from (I think) Russia then? I mean, come on, your people had to hold against the Russian, the early Nazi, and the Swedden.

BTW, about Chile, well done but... I don't live in Santiago. I don't like Santiago. None of my family does. A much polluted city, the lifestyle for the midclass was ruined during the 1990-2000 period because of a general insuficency to uphold construction and transport regulations. We have the third most contaminate capital in the world, I think. Maybe it helps that Chile is a relatively small country - once you find it, there's only two places uou can go: North and South (mine is South), and as soon as you walk a mile you see a post with a sign that says "This way: Santiago; That way: poverty". Whereas with USA, thinks workk geographically on a different scale... and don't get me started on Russia.

Why, thanks for holding this kind of conversations with me! I feel like I am making valuable use of my PC@PC time (PC at the PC, lame pun intended).

Oh, yeah, with the H1N1 thing... I so wanted to make a mention to a "Swinub flu hoax" in my fics...! Oh well, for the next one.
It's lovely how some people can enjoy being close to a earthshattering disease. While the rest of us cower in fear hidden in a corner, mumbling about the Illuminati inside the CIA and the lack of a real world, RPG-like, "Antidote" item. So good luck to you and you earthshattering career! :D

Monies here are bronze-golden (coins) and green or red, both with a tint of blue and an image of misinterpreted national heros. Which brings me to the question: what national hero does your country have? Wikipedia hasn't helped me that much (that, and I'm actually not at home, meaning not at liberty to spam the PC forums as I would usually do).

Same here (busy and sick)! :D I love my country: from zero to 27 confirmed H1N1 cases in less that 120 hours. So yes, still alive, and willingly isolated. Things should get better any time I can get biohazard sealing at my collegue office...

I hope you get better during your vacation. And that you get to be at least a bit busy, if it means green paper ($). You know, just in case.

Huh, hämäännyin kun en meinannut löytää sua kaverilistalta. " Piti vaan kysyä, että oletko tietoinen että Helsingin seudulla jaeltaisiin Shaymineja ensi viikonloppuna?
