Well, you know, all things considered, you don't RP too much. Is there something else that's depriving you of sleep and activity that's not too personal to share?

Just wondering, how often do you deal with mentoring? I mean, you have quite the hefty sum of students under your wing.

They're related, as your health improves, so will your muse, I can almost guarantee that. Your brain will work better and your thoughts will flow much more smoothly if you get more sleep. Heck, even if it only affects your health, that should be a good thing in and of itself. Granted, I know how you feel about that amount of sleep being exhausting, but your body will adjust. I'd say that you need at least 6 hours, and don't go pulling all-nighters on RP posts, it's bad for your health and for your RP quality. If I may suggest, try spreading out the time you roleplay more, maybe even starting a post and then finishing it at a later point, maybe even another day. Just don't drain yourself.

Another thing, if you feel writer's block coming on, stop before it gets bad. It's not good that you torture yourself like that, do some sort of stretch or exercise or just take a nap. I know I've already said this several times, but not just me, but the PC RP community as a whole doesn't want you hurting yourself like this; you're a pretty valuable member after all. Pace yourself, relax, rest, and just stay safe.

Just be careful, okay? I know you're having fun, but it's not good that you deprive yourself of sleep and the like for the sake of it. I really think that you should actually strive to find other hobbies that take up your time and actually force you to RP less. You may be very deeply invested in the RPs but they're not good for you, and as much as you love it, I really think that you should worry about yourself more than your hobby.

Roleplay will always be here, and really, your muse can only recover from your cutting down, and in doing so, you'll start to find it to be more fun and you'd just be plain better at it; it's a sort of "you can have your cake and eat it, too" type of deal, it really only can help you. You don't need to stop, outright, but just find other things to take up other hobbies and sleep more. Do yoga, learn Japanese, take up biking, find a good show to get invested in, just something that you enjoy, not only would that improve your quality of life, but you could also bring your experiences back to roleplaying.

But as I said, just be careful; try to balance out what's fun to you and what you need, no one wants you to deprive yourself for the sake of their roleplays, and even if you do enjoy them so much, just consider how this is affecting you.

No one'll hold it against you, after all, it's for your own good. I have a sort of philosophy about hobbies, and it's that if your hobbies eventually become a chore, you should probably tone it down. In my case, I'm an avid gamer and review games and movies, but if I feel that what I'm doing is for some other sake than my own enrichment, I've done something wrong.

And it's great that you do it for other's sake, but really, the one you should worry about most is Marin. You don't need to worry about the others because they'll be fine, there'll always be someone to take care of what you left behind, and in the past few months that I've been a roleplayer, I've seen quite a few competent members. Seriously, it's fine, take breaks, maybe drop out of a few, get some Co-GMs, you won't be hurting anyone; after all, you've already contributed so much in the way of guides and RPs. If less RPing means your overall life will improve and you will have more time to explore other interests, do other things you need to do, and allow you more sleep, then I say it's worth it.

Y'know, I've been thinking about it, and you should really cut down on your roleplaying. I know it's a hobby, but it's also an incredible workload in your case, and it could start affecting your health and educational/professional life negatively.

About Me

  • About PkMnTrainer Yellow
    Biography
I'm Marin, a dedicated roleplayer and gamer. I also arrange video game music in various styles (mostly 8 bit, SNES style, or orchestral) as a hobby. I was born with a crippling social-mental disability that pretty much caused a trainwreck of problems the moment I set foot in a public school. Luckily, I've since had the opportunity to get diagnosed and get the help I needed to... compensate for my limitations to some degree. Emphasis on the fact that I was never really cured in any sense of the word.

Needless to say, I have quite the life story that has left me with a lot of... interesting quirks. I won't assume you want to hear about any of that, though. I have a natural fondness for the English language and have been told, and I wouldn't disagree with them, that I seem to have an abnormally high understanding of vocabulary.

If you had to ask me, and I had to put all my modesty aside and answer in an objective manner though, I'd say my greatest strength is probably perseverance.

I consider myself a very social person, and I'm all about love n' hugs and *cough*pwning noobs and stealing their lunch money*Clears throat* stuff like that. (...Some people aren't. o-o;)

Mini-Hack: How to get PC thread updates via RSS!

This guide is a neat little hacking trick to make Blogger send you RSS updates of your subscribed threads on PC. It's useful when you want instant updates in your RP threads, though I'm afraid there's no practical way to get updates of just RP threads without simply unsubscribing to any non-RP threads.
