I see, I see. Um, is it, you know, a good thing to get to the conference? I have to know so that I can react properly :D But yeah, wall-o-texts can wait. They're often so solid, I think they won't disappear anywhere even if you wanted them to.

Ah, XKCD. I love it. The funny thing is, I'm a 18-year-old female and I'm actually nerd enough to understand most of the jokes there. My strangeness amuses me greatly sometimes. I also wanted to be a mathematician at some point of my life, but that dream was impossible from the beginning. I have the attention span of a gold fish, and I can concentrate on math problems effectively only about ten minutes. That doesn't make for great mathematicians, you know. Then I was supposed to be an astronomist, but that would also require enough patience to actually solve a few equasions. I like integrals, though. I like them a lot.

AND I TOTALLY DIDN'T THINK OF SOFT OH CRAP YOU'RE GENIUS THAT WOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME!!11!!!!! Seriously, it didn't even cross my mind. I assume you mean we could revive fossils with it, then? Although, it might be somewhat difficult for some of them to live with half of their head chopped off or something like that. Still, an awesome idea. You rock.

That aside, what are you down with this time? I'm actually eating antibiotics right now, because my prolonged flu managed to turn into a bacteria-based infection. Gotta love those antibiotics, though, they always seem to work INSTANTLY. I feel so much better now than I felt yesterday, before I had eaten any of those divine pills. Yesterday I felt like I had been dead for a while. Now my ear hurts only faintly and I feel mostly fine.

Ah. You want to hear the glorious tale of how Finland became intependent? That, actually, would make a really lousy movie. You see, the autonomous Finnish government noticed that Russia had began to fall in pieces. So, they did some thinking, and they thought it'd be cool to be intependent. So, they wrote a letter, pleading for intependence, and two of their officials - rather nervous ones, because no-one had any idea of how the temporary Russian government would react - embarked on a journey to St. Petersburg. Once they got there, the bolshevics had just done their coup d'etat, so it was actually the communists who met with the officials. First they were all "we can't really decide this until we have a constitution", but it didn't take too long for them to agree. "Okay, be intependent! We're too busy to mind you now, so go do what you wish." And the officials went home and said "Hai guys, we're intependent now!" and the intependence was declared on 6th of November 1917. It didn't take even a month before the Soviet Union accepted the declaration, and after that, all the other countries went "All right!" as well.
I took some freedom with the quotes, but that really is the actual story of how Finland became intependent. Not a single shot was shot, neither was anyone killed or captivated or anything. We were just sneaky and went to ask for it when our dad was too busy to really think things through before saying "okay".

Once we were already intependent, though, then we started fighting. We had a civil war about whther Finland should be a monarchy or a socialistic nation. As you can probably guess, the Nazis were pressing us to become a monarchy and the Soviets were pressing with their socialism. This resulted in the country being torn into two factions: the whites, who were essentially the army and the rich people; and the reds, who were the rest of the people, mostly poorish or poor. This, then, led to a civil war with lots and lots and lots of war crimes and other things people prefer not to talk about (for example, about 18 000 reds were killed in other situations than actual fights. They were mostly executed or died at camps), and ultimately the whites won. Obviously, as they were the ones with real guns, real military, and money. Also, the nazis weren't preoccupied with revolution like the communists were in Russia. So anyway, we had picked ourselves a king and everything, but then it so happened that the Germans, who were tired of war, did their revolution and Germany was no longer a monarchy. Then, of course, neither did the whites want no monarcs to Finland. So, in the end, we became a republic! Our civil was was kind of the miniature version of Germany and the Soviet Union fighting. Actually, that's really what it was...

As for me, I'm both red and white lineage. We don't care about those things anymore, even though it hasn't even been full hundred years yet. I think I'm more red, but I don't really care much. They were both pretty evil, and even though the whites killed way more people, I'm pretty sure the reds would've done the same if they only had the money to do so.

We do have some nifty commanders and stuff, but all in all, they're not very known. There was, of course, Mannerheim, whom the people of Finland thought of as a hero so big, they forced him to be the president for a while. Yeah, he didn't care much for presidency, he was a soldier by heart, but they kind of made him do it... He also contributed to our intependence, but, yeah. I'm not that much into Finnish history, anyway, because it's mostly famines and petty wars.

I didn't really expect you to live in Santiago... It's just good to know the capital, right? I myself live in the capital of Finland, but this isn't a very polluted city. And I find it funny that your North and South are pretty much the opposite of my conceptions of north and south... Because here, when you go south, you get closer to the Equator. When you go north, it becomes cold. But there are penguins in Patagonia... How far in South do you live? Besides, Chile is not small. It might be narrow, but not small. You know, you might be in Argentina if you drive your car to a ditch, but you can still drive on and not reach Peru for weeks. Besides, I've understood that you have a nifty slice of the Earth inside your borders, as it crosses quite a few different landscapes. You have Atacama, we have nothing!

Besides, you can't be relatively small if you are the third biggest fishing nation.

By the way, what's your lineage? If you don't mind me asking, that is. I'm interested, because my Chilian friend has quite an interesting one. She is part Italian and part Basque turned Chilian and then, of course, her mother is Finnish. I'm only plain part Finnish, part Finnish and another part Finnish. My mother's family did originally come from Germany, though...

Russia is funny :D Do you realize that it's the only coutry between me and Japan or, say, China, even though those countries are on the other side of the freaking world from my point of view? That's quite something to me!

Joy, it's another block-o-text! Enjoy! Soy feliz, mi amigo! I'd put the upside-down "!" there, too, but I haven't got the slightest idea on how you get it to appear. I also have no idea if I'm using verbs right. Spanish is not really my forte, you know. I'm much better with Japanese.

EDIT: the hugeness of this VM AMUSES ME SO MUCH :D :D :D
