I have an answer to your question.

I am torn really, I think that either place would be a good place to stop the chapter. The first one is great, it leaves the reader wondering.

However; the way you end it is... great. It shows some character development, and a little but of humor. I think that Syd's recation could be worked on, but it's still worth keeping, so I'm sorry I am not much help here.

Either way, the chapter ends with enough of a cliff hanger for the reader to be chomping at the bit for the next chapter.
