Policies of the United States federal goverment, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve System, and agencies such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac allowed this nonsense to take place. The federal government itself-along with Congress for writing the laws easing consumer access to mortgages and encouraging sub-prime lending, the Federal Reserve System for printing boatloads of money for the banks to loan out at unrealistically low interest, and Fannie and Freddie for guaranteeing those risky sub-prime mortgages, thereby burdened with the consequences once those mortgages failed. Yes, private companies are to blame in this also-such as those mortgage lenders offering stuff like JUMBO mortgages up to $1 million in which one can borrow up to 110% of the cost of the house, with no documentation needed (on the part of the borrower) whatsoever!
Still feeling the after-effects of Reaganomics, we are. Ironically, the loosening of these policies was what got us out of a recession during Reagan's first term. Of course, the senior President Bush and President Clinton didn't sign any restrictions into law, while the younger President Bush proceeded to push forth even more loosening of regulations.

Hi again It's been 2 Months and things are worse. TARP has just kept the Financial sector from Imploding but didn't fix anything..., and how do you keep your account invisible?
Hay...The US is now a Pinata in the Davos Economic Forum and the concept of Capitalism as it was is now considered a sham across the world.

Heh...You are a Libertarian. That's good since we get another perspective. Nice article by the way. The weird thing is how come Ron Paul went Republican while espousing Libertarian ideas of less government? =/ Nothing against you guys by the way, it's sad how the 2 Party system in the US has forced us to choose the "lesser evil" but eh we need that 2-Party system in order to ensure a majority in Congress and induce efficiency. Otherwise we'll be like the Canadians (Which I prefer and look up to but most Americans look down upon) with a Parliament that consists of 4 Parties that compete for a voice and a Minority Government (The Conservatives only have about 38% of the vote) which causes paralysis in Government action.
But the thing is before the HMO's were given the full green light by the Nixon administration the Government was on a course to start paying for health-care as the GDP's largest expenditure. HMO's essentially increased efficiency and lowered healthcare costs. (But the thing is they're driven by profit and shun others out and are not subject to the people.) Yet still that was a great article by Ron Paul about the Positives of eliminating the middle-man in Healthcare. Even though I still believe that a single-payer government HealthCare system aka "socialized medicine" is still better for our nation because it has the power of the union to negotiate lower prices for prescription and generic drugs yet still gives everyone a backwall and the assurance that they are well cared for. Don't worry I understand your position

Heh...It's nice to see you in the Debate Thread. I've seen you on the "Obama Running Mate" thread a while ago and you really sound like your well informed and very articulated. It's nice to see a Libertarian here.

So you agree that we need UHC like Canada´s. Seriously I think that the US is too Conservative to truly accept such a great program.

I originally joined here in early 2005 (under a different account), and changed over to this account in June of that year, abandoning the original one. Since then, I have posted on a variety of topics, both on Pokémon and non-Pokémon related subjects. Among the Pokémon related topics I've posted about were recollections of my experiences with the games (Generations I and II), the anime (mostly the Original Series, running from the Indigo League all the way through Johto, with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Tracey), as well as input on more recent Generation topics based upon info that I look up every once in awhile on various Pokémon fan sites.
I stopped watching the anime early into the Hoenn run, not only because of Misty leaving, but also because the series itself was getting boring, what with all the fillers during the Johto run. I gave up my Pokémon game cartridges in early 2006, ironically around the same time I became a fan of Molly Hale, from the third movie. I had started and operated a fan club for Molly on here, and even ran a fan site dedicated to her for a few years.
I have left and came back to this site several times over the years, the more recent occurrences due to the increasing database errors as a result of the high server load caused by the ever-increasing amount of posts, visitor messages, private messages, and the like. Since my last leave and return, I now post infrequently, usually if there's something I can contribute.

I post at Slateport City on a semi-regular basis, which I joined upon its opening in November 2014, it being the successor to Ever Grande City, which I had joined in July of 2012.
