Well, break is over and I'm back at the dorm, now. I couldn't perfect Remix 10 no matter how hard I tried, and I had to quit after a while because I felt like I was losing my sanity listening to the same cues and song over and over and over again. So, I guess I failed in my mission to 100% RHF. :( I'll say this, listening to the OST's perfect versions while I was away from home really helped me figure out which games were coming. Didn't help me suck less, though.

Remix 8 should not have given me as much trouble as it did, I feel. It's that stupid Double Date game. I swear I lost so many chances on that alone. If not that, the badminton game. It was just a repetitious mess, which was slightly annoying because I Love You is one of my favorite songs next to I Feel Fine. However, I'm partial to the Japanese version of ILY, while I like the English version of IFF, so I think the English vocals got a little more grating by the time I actually perfected it*. Nevertheless, I feel like THE Possible came quite a long way with that song since Rung Rung Paradise.

Speaking of, just before my flight, I cut my losses and played Remix 3 again just because I like that song. :P I know where my strengths are...

*By the by, I actually don't have a preference towards a specific language just because it's that language or that's where it originated. It comes down to the production values. If they're equal all things considered, then it's whichever vocalist annoys me less, hah.

I'm so out of practice it's not even funny. I randomly remember how to play some games, and then totally screw up the others. I only played a little bit because I have to do my taxes (what fun), but I only had four left: Karate Man 2, Love Rap 2, Remix 10 and Remix 8. And of all those, guess which one I perfected first?

Love Rap 2. Which is funny considering I left off in November on Remix 10, and got sort of far but totally screwed up my timing on Dough Boys, Bossa Nova, and forgot how to do a flipper roll. I still don't know. At any rate, I didn't care, the hardest thing to get down will still be Night Walk because of that darn roll jump.

I guess my casualness was what helped me ace Love Rap 2. I wasn't playing it expecting to beat it. I never got far in Karate Man 2 because I forgot what game I was playing. :P Remix 8 wasn't too bad. I got close and botched it somewhere. Oh right, the badminton game.

Anyway, I'll have to try again another time. I wanna see what happens when you get all perfects. But first, I gotta get boring but necessary things out the way...

I'm back home for spring break. That means that now I finally have a chance to 100% RH Fever. :D I never did like having to leave for school with a handful of perfects left. Time to get back into the tunes!

Of course there's emulation too. That's how I played it, although I'd love to find a cartridge copy.

I presume you learned about the remastered version of DuckTales from the NES being released this summer?

Seeing as it was built for the GBA, I'd try it out there first, because I admit using a DS is a bit unwieldy. Then again, I've only had the first DS. I also have a GBASP, which was even better for its compactness, but I think the game ended up playing upside down or something... maybe that was Kirby Tilt n' Tumble. I dunno.

Okay, so I looked at Game and Wario. At first I didn't notice anything different because the video started with Gamer, the 9-Volt game that has his mother stalking about. Man, she's really serious about 9-Volt going to sleep, isn't she? I think her coming out the TV is a whole new kind of creepy. The video went on to show the Apple game, which I thought was something multiplayer, so I just ignored it.

Essentially, I had to view a different video altogether to even realize that G&W was even all that different. The games are more like the Apple one, and less like Gamer. Personally, I dunno what to say, considering the first Wario Ware of any console is always a gimmick. Touched, Smooth Moves, the camera one... The only one of those I've even played was Touched. All things considered, it's sort of to be expected, except now there's no 8 second time limit. The game would've been the same if they made a plethora of micro games using the 8 second time limit. The Wario game where you shoot robots with arrows or something would've just been a boss.

It's like playing nothing but boss stages, or Mega Party Games, but just the new party game side of that title. G&W looks like it'd wear a little thin after a while, though, like it's not that content rich. They probably shot themselves in the foot by making DIY, because the only thing that could top it is DIY2, or essentially a gameplay sequel to the first game. Just regular gameplay without relying on console gimmicks. It worked for Rhythm Heaven Fever. And I'm not one to complain about games changing things up, either. I've just never been a big fan of ultra gimmicky hardware dependent games, unless they make it work. When it feels hamfisted, that's the only time I don't really enjoy it.

I wouldn't mind a DIY2, except I'd have to make all my games over again. Not sure if I want to do that. :< They should let you port the old ones over and just add polish. I could make new ones, but I'd almost rather touch up the old ones if I can get them to play exactly like I planned them to. I didn't know DIY would be completely touch controlled before I got it, and I sort of documented all my microgames ahead of time. They were supposed to have 3 levels each like every other WW game, and some used buttons to work. I forced every last game to work in some capacity, anyway, and the leveling is now at random. Still, I wish I could've got them to play more traditionally. Being able to choose between vector and raster graphics would've been nice, too, change up the style a little. And more colors, why not?

Yeah, what was up with Touched? The sound quality was pretty magnificent being an early DS game. heck, it probably had the clearest audio of all games at the time (I can't actually prove that). But sound aesthetics was all it had. It also had the most disappointing Wario Man/Final Wario level ever... -_-

I'll guarantee you that Twisted is not like that at all. You'll be safe, there. It's the most content RICH. Super packed, you won't be bored. It just lacks accessability like the first game (that's the one objective reason the first game is better). But for many, I think Twisted still ranks as the top WW game. Choosing between it and the first is probably down to preference.

I've never checked out G&Wario. I'll do a search, and get back to you on that one. I guess I'm not quite sure what Nintendo's doing lately as I don't have either the 3DS or WiiU. I'll probably get them, but not just yet.

If they had made Fever the exact same as Tengoku control wise, Fever would have been the clear winner. It's a lot more polished, the music quality is way better and catchier, and some games could have really used it. It's been a while since I played, but there were a few games where I was thinking the D-Pad could have easily been used. Also, Polyrhythm was much more fun than Built to Scale Wii. However, for many, Polyrhythm is also "that one game" so it's pretty divided. On the other hand, it's one of the only challenging games worth coming back to later IMO. That and the remixes. There's a few more, but not much. You love the game more for it's charm and versatility than anything else.

The music becomes easier to appreciate if you've ever listened to the Rhythm Tengoku Sound Collection (or something like that). It has polished versions of ALL R.Tengoku songs (and they used these versions for the Extra Games in Fever), as well as the DS soundtrack. Love that White Ghost and Bon Odori, and Karateka and The Clappy Trio are iconic, too.

Sweet. I'm guessing you'll like Twisted, it's a lot meatier than all the other games, but if you're like me, you may still enjoy the first game more in the long run. Not because of the games themselves, but there's just a certain air...

I'd still like to hear about Wario World, seeing as it was made by Treasure, I can't help but think it has to be somewhat good.

And as for R.Tengoku, where would you rank it with the others? Personally, I think I said it was at the top for me, but it's biggest flaw is that it's not as replayable as the others. Only one file, and the games don't have the same draw that later ones do to make you feel like you want to come back to them individually. As far as gameplay and mechanics go, though, it wipes the floor with the rest of the series. That alone scores it big for me. Endless Doctor Virus is a pretty neat example of having a lot more interactivity in a high stakes game.
