Nothing sorry, you are just changing the offset of this:

    pokemondata: .word 0x08254784

just make it your base stats table

Your base stats table contains the data for all pokemon. 0x254784 is where the table starts in a vanilla ROM but if you expanded mons this changes. So find the start of the table and that's where it is updated.

Thanks! The mom walking sprites are custom, feel free to rip them yourself. I plan to remake them at some point though, so when I do I'll tell you.

And thanks for pointing that out! A poster mentioned it but was nowhere near specific enough for me to know what they meant. I'll fix it right away! Glad you enjoyed it!

    Solid reasoning.

Btw, you could probably apply for Cyan to be moved to the Hacks Studio, as beta 2 meets the min reqs. (Or you could wait until you've finished beta 3, which would *definitely* make it belong there.)

Hm, I remember that buying the Porygon from the Team Rocket guy in Slate City doesn't open a nickname prompt. (I especially remember this because I had to trek all the way back to Snowcrest to name it, after having trekked there to rename another mon, to open up that mon's original nickname for use on Porygon, since it fit much better on it - what can I say, I'm dedicated to my themed nicknames )

"Do you think you'd be able to test it again if I gave you a patch with some changes made to see if it works?"

"You're talking about this thing, right?"

(There's a second Baulder there because it has Sheer Force; the one I mained and evolved has Solid Rock. (I caught the first one I encountered, and my prior testing with Crabble and Kelprawn had led me to believe that all the fakemon had only 1 ability :/. When I realized Solid Rock was an option, WELL. (Solid Rock is a lovely ability for a pure Rock-type. It makes the type actually not defensively terrible!))

In case non-party mons might matter, beyond the Sealob, Expleetle, Pinecrab, Dredrock, Carbink, and Riolu I had in the party, the PC contained:

Bayleef, Zigzagoon, Fribitad, Twejay, shiny Cherubi, Archen, Jigglypuff, Swinub, Ruffski, Cubchoo, and a Baulder. None of them were presently holding items.

Removed all items; goofed about some with team order (particularly the lead position - after all, I'm not going to check all 720 permutations...); switched out the entire party for other pokemon; tried different number of pokes in the party (from 1 to full); tried depositing my entire bag into the PC; tried approaching the gym from different sides (this was something I'd already tried before, but tried it with new conditions this time); tried waiting a while after savestate-ing before the event (since I had always savestated in front of the gym to save time); tried exiting and reentering the city; tried triggering it with only a shiny in my party (did I mention my shamefully good luck this run? Found a shiny Cherubi while backtracking to buy potions in Maroon - it's adorable).

One of the few things that comes to mind that I *didn't* try was releasing any of my mons... because, well, even during a bugtesting exercise, my mind can't help but counter that /that's just cruel/. Sorry

So yeah, still no luck. (For a moment, I thought I had found something, since I got it to trigger properly twice in quick succession with nothing but my Zigzagoon in the party, but I'm pretty sure that was just astounding luck, as it repeatedly failed to trigger again after that :/ )

Anyway, since I remembered it: there's a tiling error directly south of the pokecenter on north Snowcrest Path. It's easy to miss, but an eastern section of the 'path outline' is shifted 2 pixels east of where it should be, giving the outline a kink. That description may be a bit hard to follow, but if you look closely at the ground, you'll see it (it struck me instantly). (I guess it's possible that it's intentional, but if so it looks odd, and I don't think I noticed similar kinks elsewhere.)

(Speaking of backtracking to buy non-super potions, you might consider adding them to some of the later shops too (Teal, Slate, Snowcrest in beta 2). Same with regular pokeballs. Regular potions still retain a lot of value at that stage of the game, because some mons (especially unevolved ones) have to get to dangerously low hp for super potions to get their full value. (Personally, I don't like the prominent look of great/ultra balls in gen3+, only using regular pokeballs, for aesthetic's sake - though I make exception for special balls that look cool (like the dusk ball, which is what I caught Carbink with, frex)). Unless there's a mart item limit that I'm not aware of, it doesn't hurt to keep lower tier items available for longer than they normally are. :/ )

Having the Teal Path trees permanently disappear after cutting would be acceptable (I actually just wasn't aware that that was possible). Instead of the girl next to them saying matter-of-factly that Cut can be used to bypass them, have her say that she wishes that someone would cut down these annoying trees already, GOSH! Free health care for her pokemon, but they still let the roads get, like, grown over and stuff?

    >Something like that also has the benefit of injecting a bit more character

I never bought any of the Egg Shop eggs (how does that work anyway? I assume you get a random egg from one of 3 different lists, depending on which rarity you buy?), so I haven't hatched an egg at all yet.

Luckily, I keep saves before gym-leader battles and rival fights, so...
Riolu (in lead), Sealob, Expleetle, Pinecrab, Dredrock, Carbink (that's the order they're in in my party - could matter! Stranger dependencies have occurred!)

items held: amulet coin, quick claw, silver powder, silk scarf, hard stone, none; respectively.

I should probably try switching up the party at that save to see if the glitch goes away.

Beldum & Metang have gender in the hack (same reason why Swinub & Piloswine don't, most likely - they take on the gender ratios of the dexnumber they replace (in this case, Weezing, Rhyhorn, and Rhydon). (Interestingly, Carbink *is* properly genderless, rather than using Chansey's 100% F ratio - probably because you had to hand-code it, rather than just shuffling mons around?)

(And yeah, I got extremely lucky on my first trek through Avalanche mountain, seeing and catching Carbink just a few steps from exiting the dungeon. I also caught Ruffski on my first time walking through the northern half of Snowcrest Path - I feel a little guilty hearing about that poor player that searched for days and days! :O )

In Slate gym, Sophie has the Pokemaniac class and Rose the Hex Maniac class, despite both having the visual appearance of Psychics. (This may be intentional, to give the classes a bit more variety, but it could just as easily be a simple oversight. Not a big deal either way, but it's there.)
