Starting with caves is probably the way to go btw. It really helped me figure out how mountains should look.

Tbh though, I don't think I would be a very good teacher. I've never even read a tutorial on mapping. I just watched the good mappers, and learned from them. In a couple weeks, I had grown to the level that I'm at now. It's ok if you copy other mapper's styles, or even their maps (Don't post copies on this site tho or you'll get in trouble.) Just doing that will get you a feel of what's right and what's wrong, and then try to develop your own unique style, and then you can start mapping for real. (My mapping style is actually really different from everyone else's, even though I'm probably the only one who has learned to map like that. lol)

Biography

I'm (obviously) 14 years old. I live in The United States of (North) America, Indiana to be specific. I generally enjoy chatting, and LOVE ROM hacking, as it's been my dream since the age of 6 to make my own game. I'm currently working on a hack called Pokemon Midnight Sun, more to be said on that subject once I make some "good" progress on it. I've been involved in PokeAnimate, Pokemon Mythic Legends, and something else I can't think of at the moment. Been into Pokemon since the age of 5, my first game was Sapphire, followed by FireRed/LeafGreen, then: Gold, Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team, Crystal, Red, Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness, Silver, Ruby, Diamond, Emerald, Yellow, Pearl, Blue, Platinum/Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Soul Silver, and lastly Heart Gold. I've owned them all, so if I'm forgetting one, let me know. I've beaten every one of them upwards of eight times, 32 for Sapphire, and 27 for FireRed to be notable. I've also come across several hacks in my time, actually purchasing two of them (Frickin' rip-offs).
I like sprite animation, watching the SMBZ series, playing Video Games of all sorts, and other stuffs that falls into the category of uselessness.
I'm currently toying with a few hack ideas involving 1st through 4th gen Pokémon, and will probably start working on it soon. Later ppls
