    2017- Gen VII pair
2018- RGBY re-remakes (I hope they keep the Sevii islands though and flesh them out, perhaps make a Mew related post game episode that involves them).
    2019- Gen VII third version
    2020- DP remakes
But, as I said, that would put the Gen 4 remakes in Gen 7 instead of Gen 8, which just wouldn't work. They'll only have time to do one remake pair, especially since Gen 7 will more than likely be for the New 3DS (enough of a reason to not remake Gen 4 then... that's only one handheld after the DS). Plus, I doubt that the New 3DS will still be in use by 2020, as the 3DS' successor probably will have come out by then.

    Quote:
Well FrLg were the first titles to utilize the Wi-fi adapter which would be later expanded upon in DP and future Gens once it was built into the system. Also FrLg introduced several moves (the Elemental hyper beams) and allowed Gen III owners to complete the national dexes. It also introduced the notion of remakes.
FRLG didn't have Wi-Fi (nor did any of the GBA games); that was introduced with DP. And, the elemental Hyper Beams are terrible, pointless moves, IMO. And, the National Dex was something that RSE should've been able to complete on their own had GF planned the games better. (Plus, RSE + FRLG weren't enough to complete it, anyways, as you needed the GameCube games for several Pokémon, mostly Legendaries.)

    Quote:
Speaking of remakes...which pair do you find HgSs be more similar looking to? FrLg or OrAs?
Well, they were all made for completely different handhelds with different capabilities, so they don't really look anything like each other. In terms of planning and development, though, HGSS and ORAS definitely have that in common.

    Quote:
(FrLg at least gets the crown for remake with best framerate) than the most recent remakes.
Only because they have graphics that look like this instead of this. If you move down to these graphics, you get even better framerates.

    Quote:
Since XY and ORAS have post game episodes do you expect Kanto re-remakes will have one too?
I assume. My postgame Lugia story idea is an example of one.

    Quote:
Once Kanto is remade again in addition to Kris Juan,Scott, and Hoenn BFB will be the ones with the oldest art work?
Though I don't think GF cares about the artwork considering they didn't redo all the Hoenn Pokémon's artwork as far as I'm aware thus they still have the oldest art of any Pokémon, virtually tied with the Kanto mons as some got new art with Emerald.
The trainer art and Pokémon art can't really be compared. While the Pokémon art style changed drastically from Gen 2 to Gen 3, it mostly stayed the same after that. The Gen 3 art is a little duller in color than the Gen 4 and later art, but it's not a noticeable difference, and it can easily be fixed with a saturation tool.

The trainer art, on the other hand, is a different story. It changed drastically just going from Gen 3 to Gen 4, and the difference is even more noticeable when you compare it to Gen 6. The Gen 3 trainers are shorter, thicker, duller in color, and have smaller eyes.

Now that the official arts also double as VS portraits, characters having outdated artwork is a real problem. The Gen 4 and 5 art is similar enough in quality and style to Gen 6's to pass, but anything from Gen 3 or earlier just won't do.

Here are the remaining characters without modern artwork--Red, Leaf, Giovanni, Lorelei, Agatha, Kris, Juan, Scott, and the Hoenn Frontier Brains. Without newer artwork, it's harder to bring these characters back in the games as battleable opponents, as they will all need brand new art for their VS portraits. Luckily, the Gen 1 characters probably won't have to wait too long for new remakes to get theirs (and possibly, Kris, too), but unfortunately, the Gen 3 characters aren't so lucky. They had their chance, and ORAS decided to give the middle finger to Emerald.

    Quote:
Speaking of Kris, I like to think Lyra is Kris with another name (even if the creators confirmed she isn't) in the same vein how Gold was renamed Ethan.
Well, if Crystal were to be remade, I could see Lyra getting redesigned to look more like Kris and thus, retconned into being the same character as her. Lyra's much more of an established character than either Kris or Leaf (She actually has a canon name!), so it would be harder to scrap her completely.

    Quote:
I do wonder if Red and Green/Blue will be renamed like how Gold was for HgSs...as they are the only ones named after their games left...
Well, the most obvious names for Red and Blue are already taken, and I can't see people being too fond of them getting those names. Going by the remaining preset names in RBY, they could be renamed "Jack" (Red) and "John" (Blue). Dummy trainer data in FRLG also referred to Blue as "Terry."

The female PC, of course, will need a brand new name. (Especially, if they suck it up and go with "Ash" and "Gary," as she has no anime counterpart.) Reading around, two of Leaf's optional names in FRLG's data are "Jodi" and "June," which fit with "Jack" and "John" if they go with those names.

So it seems FrLg wasn't all that different for you as OrAs was for me after all xD. I don't hate OrAs though.
Well, at least ORAS brought some good things to the table. On the other hand, I can't think of a single meaningful thing FRLG contributed to the franchise. You could literally go back and erase the games from history and not much would change. Even HGSS largely ignored FRLG in favor of the originals!

    Quote:
I just think that they should do what HgSs did and take the full story of the third version plus it's additions for future remakes. So hopefully DP remakes end up like HgSs.
All remakes should follow HGSS' lead, IMO. Remake the entire generation, plus add tons of new content and truly modernize the old games.

    Quote:
Perhaps with the re-remakes of FrLg in 2017.
You mean, re-remakes of RBY, right? At this point, I'd rather they just scrap FRLG and redo the originals again, preferably Yellow.

    Quote:
I am trying to figure out how best GF could do that...and still have DP on a new device. Unless we can consider the New 3DS the way we did the GBC if so then 2016 Gen VII, 2017 RGBYFrLg remakes (maybe GSCHgSs too) hopefully of Yellow and Crystal, 2018 Third version/sequels, 2019 Dp remakes. 2021- Gen VIII 2023- BW? 2024-B2W2? 2026- Gen IX 2028- Third version 2029- XY remakes...2030- remakes of Emerald and Pt...
I don't know about doing Gens 1, 2, and 4 all within the same Generation... Here's my idea:

    2016: Gen 7 (New 3DS)
    2017: Yellow/Crystal remake pair
    2018: Gen 7 Third Version/Sequel
    2019: Gen 8 (3DS' successor)
    2020: Diamond & Pearl remakes
    2021: Gen 8 Third Version/Sequel
    2022: Gen 9 (3DS' successor)
    2023: Grey/Grey 2 remake pair
    2024: Gen 9 Third Version/Sequel

A little formulaic, but it works a bit better. Based on this idea, I have only 2 more years until I get my new remakes!

Well at least FrLg were a challenge and had new locations...
A challenge? They actually dropped Giovanni's and the E4's levels from Red and Blue's (and devolved the former's ace into a Rhyhorn), and that's not even factoring in Yellow's much higher (and better) level curve. FRLG were almost insultingly easy for people who had played the originals (especially Yellow).

And, the new locations would've been better if they had actually fleshed them out properly instead of using them as a repository for underleveled Gen 2 Pokémon that should've been in the Kanto Dex.

    Quote:
One of the good things is that it looks beautiful and the characters were improved but that's about it...in the end they were not the remakes I wanted either >_<.
Sorry to hear that. It's a shame that ORAS excluded so much from Emerald (and won't even bring it back via DLC), but there's not much you can do about it, now. At this rate, it will probably be almost 20 years before the Gen 6 games come up for remakes, and even then, the focus will be on Kalos, not Hoenn.

It's nowhere near the same as a remake, but you can check out this ROM hack for the time being. It's basically original Emerald with modern additions like the P/S split and Fairy types. I'm sure there's other hacks you can look into if you search for them.

Well Emerald's plot has yet to be properly remade (it's plot was different than RS and Emerald wasn't as intergrated as well in OrAs as Crystal was into HgSs). Also Scott and the BF Brains and the BF itself are stuck with GBA graphics like the Sevii islands, Leaf, and the Gen I Kanto plot...

But I think you're right...I'm going to have to wait 10+ years for my favorite game to be remade... sadly my second favorite game won't be remade either (Pt) at least for a very long time...it's the curse we who love third versions have...
Well, now, you know how I feel as a Yellow fan.

I think the Third Versions could eventually get remade, although it *will* be a long wait, especially for Emerald. (Platinum, at least, can still be played on the current handheld.) They'd have to do Yellow and Crystal first before they can even get to your two favorites, and right now, Yellow's the only one that truly needs it (as Gen 1 can't be played on the 3DS at all).

At, least you've got a pretty good set of remakes in ORAS, though. Poor Gen 1 was cursed with, well... not-so-good remakes...

Well now that I think about it, chances are Mega evolution will be down played after Z or whatever comes next. So if they're making them next Gen chances are good as it'll get old fast...besides it'll be best for Z to show all the secrets for the time being and save any left for XY remakes like 15 years down the road...
It's WAY too soon to be talking about XY remakes, LOL. To be honest, I could care less about what Z does as I have zero interest or investment in Kalos--boring region, boring characters, boring story, IMO.

    Quote:
How would you feel if GF broke the remake norm and made the next remake not a DP remake, but an Emerald remake (paired alongside Z to end this Gen)?
Neither DP or Emerald will happen next. The former are still too recent, while the latter is mostly pointless. (And, should probably be saved for Gen 3's next remakes years down the road.)

Gen 1 is the next to be remade. Haters can hate all they want, but the games are very outdated and deserve their chance in the spotlight.

Btw have you seen my latest post on the RB remake thread how they can change the plot?
Yeah, I have. Not too keen on a big, epic Mega Evolution story being shoehorned into Gen 1. We got enough of that in XY and ORAS, IMO. I'd rather see Mega Evolution introduced in a more low-key way, similar to how Origins did it.

(And, speaking of Origins, I'd also like to see the more fleshed-out Marowak plot carry over to the new remakes.)

    Quote:
I've noticed something which I sure hope that Nintedo notices. In recent times at the very least, they had the N64 and the GB/C which was successful but then the Game Cube and the GBA which didn't do so well (yet similar to Pkm Gen III they became cult classics later on), the Wii and Ds did great (as did Pkm Gen IV and V), but now the Wii U and 3DS aren't doing so good (likewise Pkm Gen VI isn't doing that good). So it seems that they keep having a bad 'sequel' to their previous device but each first device in the newest 'line' (the GB line which the GBA belongs to and the DS line whcih the 3DS belongs to) does great.
It's like a Star Trek Rule for Nintendo handhelds... Every other one is a flop. GB/C = good, GBA = bad, DS = good, 3DS = bad.

The consoles are a little iffier, as the N64 was actually a flop. Not that the GameCube did any better. Of course, the Wii U's the biggest bomb of them all.

Well, let's hope that new Gen 1 remakes can do the same with my faves. (Particularly, the ones who never reappeared in HGSS.) It's the least GF could do for older fans like me...

Well, I know that *I* want to see more remakes and sequels to older games. Each new region and new set of characters interests me less than the last, and Kalos really took the cake for being boring, IMO. The story was blah, the evil team was beyond generic, and most of the characters had the personalities of cardboard. I'd much rather see my old favorites again in glorious 3D (like you got with ORAS).

Wow I can't beleive that I'll be completing my third year on this site already...time sure went by quick. I remember joining at the time when Gen V speculation was picking up. Now we're in the middle of Gen VI speculation! During that time I made friends, and lost some too. Even then I found these three past years on here to be fun overall. I hope that the next three years will be better than these past three .
