One more note: Pokemon games are quite small, Gen I usually being less than 32 MB. PS2 games are huge, often reaching sizes of 1 GB or more. So you have a lot more to work with, and a lot more that won't help you with what you want.

If you can succeed, I'd gladly play it. :3

You would have to open the ELF or ISO in a hex editor and play with entries here and there, then test the file to see what changed.. It will take hundreds, if not thousands of tries. That's how hacking for Pokemon games got started. :/

Not to mention, you would need a computer that was fast enough to emulate the game, or you would need a modded PS2 that could play burned games.

Another option might be to put the actual PS2 game in the PC and copy all of the files over, then look around for one that looks promising, edit, repackage (convert the game folder to an ISO) and test.. repeatedly. More steps, but once you find the file it will be easier to edit things.

If you choose to edit the entire thing, it will take a lot longer to find the specific Hex address but it will be easier and faster between edits to check what changed. If you choose to copy all the files over, it shouldn't take as long to find the address, but testing will require a few more steps, and become very tedious.

If you can manage to successfully add a couple of spells, with proper effects... You will be a pioneer in PS2 hacking, and will likely become a legend in many hacking communities!

Lol there's a reason no one else has done it/succeeded. That's a lot of work.

    Theoretically, it is.

You'd need either an ELF or an ISO of the game (PS2 only, as far as I know) and you'd have to use a Hex Editor, but theoretically, it IS possible. But to be honest, I wouldn't even try, too many unknowns. I'm still waiting for PS1 hacking to really get rolling. Vandal Hearts 2 hack? MUCH WANT!

By the way, Vandal Hearts was a PS1 game with similar basic mechanics and gameplay, though it is a PS1 series. Just 2 games, that I know of.

ePSXe 1.7.0 and Vandal Hearts don't seem to get along, a lot of the textures are freaky, but I think Vandal Hearts is definitely worth it anyway. I'd try to find a copy if I were you. The story also has a few choices that will affect future party members and such, you will see for yourself if you play it. :3

There was a thread here on PC somewhere, but I think it's dead.. The 'leader' took a leave of absence and hasn't been seen since, so the project isn't moving forward. Hasn't been canceled yet, I don't think.

They are rebuilding X and Y together, as one game. Using a unique game engine created by one of the members of the team. It's not hacking, because they aren't using ROMs, instead it would be considered 'unique re-development' because they are developing from nothing, and adding things in as needed.

I'm not really the right one to ask for specifics, as I don't fully understand a lot of things, but I do know that we had big plans while I was on the team (only for 1 week or so) and every little fact I learned made me want to play it even more lol.

Lol nope. Nintendo ticked me off with the Wii, and I haven't spent a cent on them since I finally completed Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.

I can't stand handheld systems, the only reason I originally bought my PS Vita was because I was enthralled with the concept of dual touch screens, and because Gravity Rush looked awesome lol. (and I heard that the next Hot Shots Golf game would be a PS Vita Exclusive, which turned out to be false)

I don't think I'll ever own a 3DS. The only game that gained a bit of attention from me was Pokemon X/Y, and there is a PC version of that in development, with plenty of new features, and a familiarized interface. What more could I want?

Yes, Playstation Vita, full touch screen front and back, dual camera, yada yada yada. Plenty of hyped up features, but I just don't care for handhelds in general. Pokemon games are the only games that get me to pick up an handheld game system these days lol. (Speaking of which, I still need to get a 3DS so I can play some Pokemon Y)

I know, I just meant in the future lol.

If you ever get a Vita (I suggest against getting one) you can get Disgaea 3 and 4, but they come with all previously available DLCs and it's pretty much the same price as the console version. I really enjoyed D3 on the Vita I had, but I sold my Vita a while back, before D4 was remade for the handheld.

If you get Disgaea 4, please PLEASE get the DLC regarding Val's past. Upon completion you get Tyrant Val and he is so OP lol. That is the only DLC on the Playstation store that I stand behind 100%! And for good reason xD Great story, epic skills, and a fun experience make for the best $5 I ever spent!

My PS3 is barely able to handle Blade Kitten without extreme lag, so I don't want to try Disgaea on it. But you're right, I saw Disgaea 2 and a couple of others available, though I don't have the money to buy them right now. Bills are going up again soon too...

I'll say this about D3: Once you complete the main story stages and get to the third section of the extra areas.. You will find that training your team is ridiculously easy. Get some high magic power, raise Fire to +8, cast once and done. Practically instant experience.

D4 on the other hand, has no easy training maps. So I had to use Item Worlds a lot more in order to train to 9999 lol. There were a couple of maps early on that gave easy experience (if you used a specific skill or two) but the low levels of the enemies really slowed it down.

There is one more thing about D4 that I have to mention: Tyrant Val is OP as heck! I spent about 12 hours training my team up, trying to focus on having 2 main members, the rest being weaker, and after I unlocked Tyrant Val from the DLC it all changed. Tyrant Val is my only team member now. The rest don't matter lol. His skills are... just so pro.

    Tyrant Valvy~ ♥♥♥
    Miss Beryl~ ♥♥♥♥♥
    Mao was funny too.

Sadly, I've only played D3 and D4, because I don't have a way to play the older ones, since I don't have a PS2, and my computer isn't good enough to emulate PS2 games.

Disgaea reminded me a lot of Vandal Hearts for the PS1, so I was able to enjoy the gameplay immensely, and the story in 4 was heart wrenching! I loved it so much!

So, progress in this game has been rather brisk this time. The last gym was nothing to write home about, aside from the ice puzzle. The leader himself just crumbled before me, just like all the others, thanks to my Electivire, though it did take a while since he had 5 'mons with him.

So, with the last badge at hand, The only thing that was left for me to do before the league was to mop up whatever parts of Hoenn that are still untouched by me, namely the parts that required Waterfall...

Now, in this one, I've dispelled their psychic powers in Mossdeep's gym. All it took was a Dark Pulse from Greninja & a Metal Claw from Excadril to put Liza & Tate down & secure badge #7. Hmm, maybe Psychic-type gyms have become a shadow of their former selves in the past.

Anyway, as soon as I got out, a column of light came out from where route 129 is. Everyone throughout the region starts panicking like headless chickens. Turns out, Team Magma managed to get into the Seafloor...

Alright, now that I've gotten through more, time for another report. The Fortree Gym was blasted through with ease, though it wasn't necessarily quick, though, considering that Winona has four 'mons. Still, since I was packing Ice moves in my Greninja, it was a slow but methodical picking apart of her team. & with that, Badge #6 is mine.

That manages to unblock the rest of 120 for me to clean up & gain access to route 121. With that, I've gotten in hot pursuit of Team Magma...

Hope you guys are having a nice Christmas (eve.) For this report, I went straight to the Petalburg gym. I only needed my Heracross to break this one, however the one time that I got to Norman's second Slaking, that one did manage to survive, barely, & managed to mount a counterattack. In the end, however, it was too little, too late, as I'd anticipated him trying to heal up & delivered the deathblow right afterward.

So, with badge #5 in tow, I immediately went off to route 118,...

Continuing off from where I left in my last report, I got up to Mt. Chimney, & there was strife between the two teams that are as hot as the lava in this volcano. But sure enough, this all came to a crashing halt when I got to Maxie, who wasn't able to handle my war machine. Even afterward, he threatened that if I crossed paths with him again, the consequences will be dire. Bah! He's got no position to be making these! In all honesty, if & when we cross paths with each other, it will be...
