    The useless and redundant tiles in the main tileset as well?

    I don't see myself believing that you used this only for one tileset.
    Did you replace some of the useless tiles in the main tileset?

    I'm uploading the picture right now circling the observable errors.

    And the brown rocks would be used to make the ocean more original; sea and ocean areas need originality the most when the most original thing in a water is a broken white rock.

    With that said, you also didn't respond to the bigger rocks(and the smaller trees) on other places, which makes me confused as to whether you forgot to respond to it, or you just dropped the idea without responding to it.

    And I think you could get away with another house if you made a small carving into the mountain on the fourth floor under the green house. If you have enough warps, that is.

    And these are the tile errors that pretty much matter, along with a few other tile errors.

    I think it looks better, except I can see at least two "improper uses", and both of them are on the island where you surf around to get to the other side.

    Also, you didn't respond to what I said about those rocks floating in the water. A bit of brown rock can compensate for all of the white rocks found on the ocean in my opinion.

    If you want, I can circle most of the tile errors in your map. :\

    Where? ;-;

    damn it, I could've sworn I had the right image.
    Whatever though, you seem to get the point.

    It's actually bollocks, not BS.

    The lines, well they aren't meant for the aesthetics. It is just a few small edits to make it look spiffy when looking at the map from that perspective.

    I forgot about that part ;__;
    I'm guessing you are doing what RPG's do best and you will make the forest way bigger than what it seems like from the outside?(this is what I could understand from what you said; for all I know, you may be talking about an underwater tunnel that leads to a forest instead)

    And as for the umbrellas, I mean that you were under an umbrella while seeing the front of a sign. Signs to me seem to be in relatively empty spaces or near important landmarks, like the green roofed house you use.

    Here is what I mean by improper use.
    You used this as a background to all of your trees and fences.

    Yet you could've easily used this as a background to the objects with a few more blocks.

    Clearly, I am considering the top left corner of the grassy mountain tiles instead of all of them.

    Alright, good then.
    Just to tell you though, ignore this post if you are trying to keep the pokemon brown feel to it.
    The first thing that I noticed was that there were a lot of tile errors. Some minor and barely noticable like the fences on the north ledges, but the one that stuck out most to me was under the bottom left corner of the pokemon center, right near the mountain. There was also that improper use of mountain tiles(the mountains that support the top line of trees), but it wouldn't seem as noticeable to me in game. The flowers...I really don't like how they are placed because of Nintendo standards. I really don't mind when they are in a diagonal pattern when close to each other, but it irks me when they are horizontally and vertically touching, especially in large clumps. Although I know that most flowers do grow in patches, those patches just don't fit my idea of flower placement when used in a natural pattern. I'm somewhat on the fence between your beach to water borders; they aren't terrible, but they aren't great either. A few more bumps and curves would do just fine. The mountains I generally don't care about in this map, but I'd like it when they move off of the map and back onto the map, to avoid looking more uniform. I'll show an example if you are curious as to what I mean. The sand to grass lines are just like my opinion on the beach to water borders; a few bumps and curves would do nicely. The island is okay, but the mountains are uniform, like I said before, and the unreachable grass bothers me. The mainland could use some more small trees, since it is close to the water, and it would fill up more space to make the island look like it can support more vegetation. And the water never has one of those mountain tiles on it like R/S/E did. Both the island and the mainland could use more rocks, both big(as in the four corners of the mountain tiles) and small, but that is completely optional. The sign on the beach...well, I don't care much for it but it would be nice if you could read the front without being under the parasol. It would be nice if you could add small patches of dirt on parts of the mountain to make it more detailed, but like before, it is completely optional. It looks good either way. Those small bushes are pretty good when used in small amounts and spread out more, but I can't find myself liking them when they are like that. Lastly(for now), I am somewhat bothered by those wood fences near the pokemart. I find it much more convenient to just connect the two fences, but maybe you have a reason for it./rant

    I'm sure that I repeated some stuff here and there, but that is all I could think of as to give your map a detailed review.
    Oh, and a small bridge for fisherman wouldn't be out of the question, would it?

About Me

  • About Hiroshi Sotomura
    I'm the type of person who codes web pages and designs layouts, and enjoy anime, mostly of school life / comedy. And I'd call myself a pretty good gamer, but I'm not the FPS type (which I regularly play nowadays).

    I'm also the kind of person who enjoys tech gear, so I read up on various technology news sites. I also have a penchant for reading, to the point that sloppy writing makes me cringe, even if I don't mention it, but I admit that I have a reading deficiency when it comes to novels - simply because I haven't the time to read them. Reading long paragraphs about the development of the Wii (and the Wii U and 3DS) is probably more a hobby for me, though.

    I'm staunchly against anti-consumer practices in technology. I'm vehement against strict, pointless DRM as per used on Nintendo devices.
    Pokémon, anime, video gaming, Nintendo games in general, drawing, ROM hacking, and… not much else.

I wanted to accompany it with a pretty video that went through the various logos that PC went through over the years, right down to the official logotype we used for some of our very first forum styles (née "themes") but I couldn't, for the life of me,...
