I understand what you mean. When you can relate, it's easier to write for a character too. At least, in my opinion. I actually put myself in every character that I make. Don't tell anyone, because it might sound crazy. But I walkthrough scenes in my apartment when I'm writing my short stories. Like when a character is holding a gun at eye level, I hold up my arm to think about what they see and what they might be feeling. Stuff like that. Wow, that makes me sound nuts... uh... never mind...

I thought it was great. The part about him really liking Knighthood and acting gentlemanly really reminded me of you. So much that I think you borrowed some aspects of yourself in making the character.
