I love doing charity work, or at least, giving away as much as I can (within reason). Im trying to save up money haha. Its a win-win: I can help others in need and I learn. I remember working at an after school daycare with my mom, and we helped them with homework. But more importantly, many of these boys just needed a compliment, and to make them smile felt really, really good. (the daycare was for boys who had parents that couldn't, or wouldnt pick them up from school)

    How do you help out?

I dont either, but im sure the market will eventually come out with something to clean oil better as the need arises.

I wrote an essay and we were going to read them to the club (im in a mock-government club and we did a project on Obama's State of the Union). My essay is a bit, well, mind-blowing? I was worried about a negative reaction even tho the topic wasnt that controversial. It turned out we wouldnt be doing that.

And my own club (that i founded) invited a really important higher-up in a major, major local charity to come speak and she came! I was really nervous about that too haha. My club does charity work through ceramics to feed the homeless.

    Thats awesome!

yea, and there is actually a prototype for a machine on the surface of the water that attracts trash and stuff, but idk how well it does against oil.

Im kinda nervous for tomorrow... I have two really important things.

I have heard so many great things about Game of Thrones! I haven't watched it though. Have you? How is the novel series?

Yep, an underwater vacuum cleaner is obviously the best solution! Maybe something that can work like a sub and maybe a bit bigger, but this could totally work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JOSVPJeu8M

People really need to lol. Ill respect them, but I can understand if someone has a legit trigger or something. Otherwise, lighten up haha.

Ugh. I tried downloading "The Road to Serfdom" by Frederick Hayek, but i can only find the condensed version for free. I have to pay for the full version, but im sure it still has some good information.

    What is that series about?

I read the description for The Swarm and its very very intriguing lol. *invents underwater vacuum cleaner to clean pollutants to not piss off the fish*

Good lol. Sometimes nazi jokes are taken the wrong way. xD I have a Jewish friends who crack them or would at least laugh, while another who takes it very seriously. I make sure to be mindful around him.

Sci-fi/action/horror are probably my favs, or at a mixture of 2 or 3 of them. I love fantasy, but really only in anime because I feel like anime is the best medium for fantasy. Sci-fi is pretty much great in any medium in my opinion. Thats not to say that fantasy is bad in mediums other than anime (i have many other fantasy series that I enjoy that are not anime).

More specifically, I love end of the world scenarios and stories with a lot of death and sadness. So basically dark stuff. Dang, I sound like a sado-masochist or something....

so you are a closet fascist? ya know, Hitler was a socialist-fascist (i know you prefer many socialist aspects in economics). xD Im just kidding haha! Please dont take offense! To be honest tho, Mein Kampf seems pretty interesting to read. As well as the communist manifesto.

Fiction is great. I prefer it over biographies and autobiographies (i find them boring). What are your favorite genres?

Im reading too many political books at once lol. I mostly read them for the parts i find most interesting, but my goal is to read them all to the full extent while highlighting the key parts.

Defending the Undefendable by Dr. Walter Block (read like 1/5 of it)

FREEDOM! by Adam Kokesh (second time reading, almost done the second time)

Man, Economy, and State, with Power and Market by Murray Rothbard (its over 1000 pages, help me)

For a New Liberty: A Libertarian Manifesto by Murray Rothbard (very enlightening)

and the book I linked you too. This technically isn't a book, but I'm also reading this:

Universally Preferable Behaviour: A Rational Proof of Secular Ethics by Stefan Molyneux (NAP ftw!)

And of course the Attack on Titan manga (gotta have something fun in there)

^interesting book. its available for free after you click the link, there should be a download button. idk how much space it takes up, so sorry about that. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but so far its interesting (especially the part on women's opportunities).

I dont want to force you to read it, so if you dont want to, you dont have to. The man is only anti welfare state, and actually is in support of welfare (so it wont contradict your beliefs there too much).

Verbal harassment is the threat of violence. Sexual harassment is violence, as well as physical harassment. What else are the other kinds of verbal harassment you are referring to (and how they are different from the threat of violence)?

And harassment is the threat of violence, which is wrong. However, a law making harassment might have more negative effects than positive because the people crazy enough to harass dont care about the law and the law may begin to extend to barriers on free speech.

I think she was implying breaking freedom of speech. However, I was thinking if there was a way to please both sides and keep free speech. Politely telling them to stop or walking away is a solution, but what do you think in the case when one can't do that, or its not working?

Eureka means "I have found it" in Greek. Archemedes said it.

Freedom to not hear is the freedom to not hear words that I dont like.

About Me

  • About gimmepie
    Biography
    Hi whoever is reading this

I'm gimmepie (obviously not my actual name, but I prefer not to use that on PC). I'm 19 years old, have high-funtioning autism and am an Australian. Currently I am studying Primary School Education at university and I work somewhat casually as a ballroom dance coach at my studio.

This is my third year now as a member of PC and I thoroughly enjoy it here. You can primarily find me typing up a storm in the Roleplay Corner or quite often sharing my love of music in the song-rating thread in Forum Games but I tend to pop up in all kinds of places.

I like to think I'm a friendly guy, albeit stubborn and opinionated, so if you feel like talking just drop me a VM or PM and I'll probably reply as soon as I see it.

PC Supporter since 2014 (Currently Crystal Tier)
Moderator of the Roleplay Theatre since June 2015
Moderator of the Round Table since September 2015

Most RPs GM'd at once: Six (I'm pretty sure that's a record but I dunno)
    Interests
My interests are pretty varied and they keep me sane when I'm supposed to be studying.

As I said before I teach at my local ballroom studio, I also train there myself as I am also a competitor. Dancing is one of the most important parts of my life.

I also love music, a very wide range of it too. I listen to everything from Rock to rap to country. My favourite band is Linkin Park but there are many other artists I love (far too many to list here so VM me if you're curious).

Pokemon has been a part of my life since I was about six. My first game was Pokemon Stadium for the N64 and I watched the anime religiously. These days I'm still in love with the franchise and I buy the main series games whenever they come out. I also sometimes battle on PCs Showdown server. These days I'm not as fond of the anime, but I haven't seen X/Y yet so I don't know.

I am a big lover of improvisational and stand-up comedy. I am arguably the biggest fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway in my country and I spend hours watching it and stand-up shows. I often consider giving stand-up a shot, but I struggle to be funny on cue and I don't have a very good stage presence.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I do enjoy a bit of gaming sometimes. My favourite game is The Last of Us but Starcraft 2 is a close second.

I am an anime lover and, unlike Western shows with which I am very picky about genre, I will watch almost any genre. My favourite anime of all time is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

Weekly Music Mince

It's the end of the week again which means it's time for another Music Mince, this time flavoured with some actual thought about each song according to the original format I used.

I've been listening to a lot of music this past week so it was really hard to narrow things down to ten choices, but here they are. Enjoy!

Number One
Song: Not Strong Enough
Artist: Apocalyptica ft. Brent Smith

Will Teach For Money

Well as a lot of you are aware, I'm currently studying to become a teacher... or at least I should be. Truth be told though, six months of this year are going to have equated to exactly zero study due to my university messing things up. During my last study period they lost my enrolment - there goes three months of uni - and this study period they managed to enrol me for the next SP instead of the current one.

This has put in a bit of a predicament.

Post-Performance

As many of you likely know at this point (since I haven't shut up about it for so long), this Saturday passed was the day of a fundraising event at my dance studio in which the available members of our competitive team performed show dance numbers as entertainment.

The numbers consisted of a rumba to Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, performed by one of our team members and his younger sister (his partner was away), a gothic themed New Vogue medley to

So Close to Show Time

So as I have mentioned before, September marks the month that my dance partner and I will debut as a partnership. We've been working very hard and things are coming along quite nicely, so I'm optimistic about the future right now and really hyped to get the show on the road.

Our first competition will be on the 20th of September, a competition that is already set to mark an influx of new couples in our division. I'm really happy to see the field
