    Oh, really? Hm, guess that'd be better, since UNLZ is being really weird. By "change the table", you mean in a hex editor, right?

    It's okay, I fixed them already. It was because a few spots on the palette map didn't have 2's over it. It looks awesome now!

    There is a small issue though. You know that background where there are five different palettes linking to it, but they all use the same image and tilemap and stuff? If you change that background and the tilemap, it overwrites into nearby stuff and causes glitchy tiles to appear everywhere overtop the battle, which makes me think that they aren't safe to change, or can't be very extravagant without paying a hefty price. Just thought you should know.

    I have no idea. I just went to the offset 0x248400 in APE and edited the palette directly, like you said I could. I didn't check the Compressed Palette, but I just checked it and it said there wasn't a compressed palette there. I'm an idiot. There was a compressed palette, I didn't think to edit it. I'll fix it and see if it works. Other than a few glitchy tiles from the palette map, it WORKS! :D I'm happy now, so thanks for your help! You're gonna get hella credit for this, this is such a huge help and it makes everything so much easier for me.

    Okay, so I ran into a problem. I edited the palette directly like you said, but when I went into a battle, the game froze completely.

    Thank god, I thought that was gonna be difficult. I already have the tilemap using only palette 2, so I basically have very little work to do. Thanks so much!

    One more question. What's the UNLZ number for the titlescreen logo (aka "FireRed Version"). It's one of the last few things on the titlescreen that I need to edit.

    I did not, so I guess I got out easy :D Thanks a bunch, this'll save me soooo much time. If I only use 15 colors and one transparent color for all the other backgrounds, I can basically just do the same thing, right?

    Can't do that though.

    The palettes which are assigned to battle backgrounds are made from two palettes, palettes 0x2 and 0x3 in your emulator’s background palette viewer. Both of these palettes are highly interlinked as 0x3 borrows most of its data from 0x2 to save some space. This has caused them to appear fractured with a byte jutting out after every fourth word. For example, here’s a screenshot of the original grass background palette in a HEX editor with each stray byte indicated:

    Thanks to this interlinking we cannot simply open up palettes in a palette editing program such as APE, even if it is instructed to uncompress the palette.
    I tried to do the hex editing, but it came out... very disturbing. Do you or DrFuji know exactly where that palette is? Because I started at 0x2483FA like it said in the screenshot of the palette in the hex editor and it came out extremely discolored.

    Oh, one more thing! I tried to change the battle background in my game but I have no clue how to edit the palette. How am I supposed to edit it? I followed the tutorial but it's really confusing...

    Oh, I thought they were finished lol. I can wait. It'll take a while for me to actually get started on that, anyway. I plan on doing a hack before that anyway, and I'm re-making every Hoenn overworld into the style of FireRed from scratch, so I probably won't get started on it for quite some time. Besides, if the time comes and they're still not available, I can just make some placeholder versions.
