I went ahead with it. Smooth, for the most part. I'm going to look into tweaking it. Maybe it has something to do with Aero. I dunno.

As for the supply, my mum got her income tax, so if I can pester her enough, maybe.

What I meant by that is my aunt bought it and installed it on her computer but she didn't like it. So she installed Vista on it and offered to give it to me.

Should I upgrade to 7? This machine runs XP well, and if I remember correctly, it ran 7 okay, but I think it performed better with XP. The install's getting a tad stale and I don't feel like driver hunting. What do you think?

It has a lot to do with the way they're sent around. A lot of stock, for some strange reason, is manufactured in Asia, then sent to the US and distributed from there. As a result, you've got at least 2 sets of import tax and then the middleman and shipping charges. That shouldn't be as drastic in Canada, but it's stupid considering that Australia is very close to where much of these products are produced, but it still gets sent back and forward.

Publishers are also responsible. They set RRPs that retailers have to deal with, which is not only more, but they often set them when the US exchange rate is much higher. We're at parity with the US dollar, occasionally jumping above, yet we see products at the 50% bump they were from 5 years ago. This is why we see different prices on digital media, such as Steam and iTunes.

Ah well, that's just my rant for the day.
Actually, that reminded me of the summer of 2009, when I went to China. A lot of foreign-company stuff there (e.g. cars, some electronics) is actually pretty expensive, sometimes more expensive than in North America even if you factor in the exchange rate. What you're saying is definitely true, where Asian-made products are first shipped to the U.S., and then shipped to where they're going to be sold.

Of course, in Australia, your incomes by exchange rate might make up for higher prices. For example, Australian GDP per capita by exchange rate is over US$54,000, but by purchasing power it's more like US40,000, which is still pretty high. Most of China obviously isn't that rich, so imagine how much Chinese people would complain about price differences. One of the main reasons why there's still a lot of knockoffs/piracy in China, and many other developing countries.

Appreciate the DS game prices that you get. Over here, new games are $70, despite our dollar being worth more.
Well, you really never know. Back when the games were $45 at GameStop, one person I talked to actually didn't know that there were places selling it for cheaper, despite the fact that the only "participating retailer" selling it that expensive was GameStop.

Still, I think something's clearly wrong/unfair with the pricing given to different regions.

Yes, because Melbourne is clearly superior to Sydney and demands greater respect.

Stilll on the way home from the shops, but the connection tour was great.

I met up with Eon-Rider there and we took on the various mini games that were part of the MotionPlus series. I've got to admit, the games were mostly great and intuitive, although the Virtua Tennis was really clumsy. Quite literally, the players occasionally trip over without warning. Maybe that was just me - Eon-Rider thrashed me. XD

I have to say the best games were the Fencing, which was a...

Well I went to a friend's the other morning, so I wasn't online yesterday.
Pretty awesome time, though. We (there were four of us) sat in a boat on their dam, for ages with coke and chips. We did a few other crazy things, like jumping of the roof into the pool and playing with fireworks.

Also watched a few movies: Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Boogeyman 2 (lol, it's pathetic, considering it's supposed to be horror.)
Yeah, it was all good.

Uh, that was just to get your attention. If it did, post a comment saying so. :D

Um, it's raining, which is good - it keeps the weather cooler. (It was ~40% Yesterday.) Um, boring day at home. Yeah.

I might be going to a friend's place tomorrow, so that'll be interesting, although I won't be here. Hmmm. I might actually get a name change to my real name, if only it wasn't already taken by some noob with 3 posts and no activity since 2004.

Hmmm... I've achieved...
