Are you still working at the... video game animation place, I wanna say? Could be totally wrong there haha.

Been busy with uni really. Work, deadlines, applications, etc. left right and centre. Staying on top of it all though which is nice. 8) St. Patrick's has been in the back of my mind really but it's always fun; Manchester always absolutely buzzes on St. Patrick's and whatever you get up to you have a good time just going outside and wandering about. I'll just see what people are up to and see if something comes of it really - it's not hard at all to make stuff happen! Do you tend to do much for it?

Good! Reading our VM history is the weirdest trip down memory lane. And you're leaving me on a total cliffhanger in your AMA thread.

    How are you?

Actually, staying in character is something I normally don't have to worry about too much thankfully. Most of the care I take is in trying to make sure my posts don't weird weird so the other people playing can enjoy them.

The various styles of ballroom, there's actually three competitive styles in Australia and all of the people I teach compete in all three. I really do hope it comes to fruition, it will drastically improve my financial situation if it does. The problem is convincing my boss it is worth while. Even though I can guarantee she'll earn more money than she is now, she's hesitant about how cheap I want to make it.

Oh I didn't doubt for one moment that it would be a difficult or busy job, although I have to say three meetings in a day is pretty extreme. Still, anyone who read your post in the jobs thread is quite likely to want to mob you, there are a lot of people desperate to work in the gaming industry on PC alone.

I didn't get to sleep until 6:30 this morning (yay insomnia!) so I ended up watching hours upon hours of anime and half a movie. Does that count as something new?

That's good to hear =] And things are rather meh on my end. Work and school are being, well, what you would expect from work and school. That's honestly about it

    Sounds exciting!

The same professor wants to go for coffee / tea in the café on the first floor of my uOttawa job. She's so kind. Last time I had confronted her in order to explain my concerns about a professor I didn't feel comfortable approaching. She's friends with that professor, so she understands her mannerisms.

In any case, this time we talked about my French tutoring I do on Tuesdays. I had mentioned to her that my "students" had cancelled today and that I was available to see her earlier in the afternoon, but unfortunately she was busy till 15h00. I explained how the tutoring works - going over grammar first, looking at homework (if applicable), but mostly reading children's books aloud in order to correct pronunciation - and she was thrilled about it. We talked about the one class I'm taking - FLS3761 (she taught me FLS2761, the prerequisite course) - and how unequal the classes are ability-wise now. She says it's such an odd phenomenon: there's no middle anymore (70%). Either the students are 80%+ or under 50%. She's perplexed by it but attributes it to effort and laziness. She says I'm the kind of students all professors want because I do ask so many questions (thereby showing interest in material) and it's obvious that I put in a lot of effort.

We talked about work, too, and how laziness is seen there. I was saying how perturbing it is that students and workers sometimes accept offers of admission or positions and then waste the opportunity. For every person that does that, another person was rejected and may have taken it more seriously or needed it more (such as a single parent with kids to feed). I explained that there are people I work with that, on the weekends when the full-timers aren't there to supervise, spend time doing their homework and sending private emails on the work computers for hours rather than helping out with the work. They're paid 13$ to do really basic things to begin with, and they twitter away their time on the PC on the weekends when they know they can't do that. I'd feel so much shame knowing I was doing that and someone else was picking up my slack. She liked the wording of "There's no shame left in the world" (said in French, though) because she completely agreed.

Anyway, had pasta for dinnies. Tomorrow I have school and work! and homework. Tonight is essay writing

    Oooo OK disclosure rules! Got'cha.

I was reading on Jewish spatial tension in Montreal, QC. Very boring I have to make a resume on it, too. Ugh.

Had a wonderful chat with a prof today! She's so supportive. Very nice lady

It's night for you, right KuKu? What did'ja do today?

Ugh, it did that to me recently too. I lost an RP post I spent an hour typing and had to redo it.

    You're welcome.
I don't know if new is the word, but all the recreational-level dancers at my studio have a competition this weekend so I've been flat-out with teaching them, especially because the boss keeps adding more events on for my students. I'm still in negotiations with her about a school dance programme I've written too which is taking a lot of time and effort.

So I guess when you count uni, it's not exactly anything new but I've got a large amount of the same haha! You're really lucky to have the job you have, so many people on here must be completely and utterly envious.

So, I sorta missed out on the deadline with the whole.. successes and failures blog competition thing, but I wanted to post something anyway since it's a subject that spoke out to me recently.

Sometimes, success can be a real matter of perspective, and sometimes, it's not always visible. We, as onlookers can point to others and assume that "this person is succeeding" and "this person hasn't really gotten that far" when we really don't know their whole story. We...

I see loads of new faces, though I'm unsure how many are name-changes and how many are newbies, so you might have to help me out here!

Anyway, hmm in case you're wondering what I've been up to:

In ways, I feel quite a lot older this time of year- and thinking back, I realize how living on my own has changed me a lot, and even when I think I am mature, I look back again and see how much I mature further.

That being said, I realize that this Christmas, what I really want is the comforting feeling of friends and family around- and just being happy to be there in their presence. Now, this Christmas, I am away from my parents and brother and other family (it's too expensive to...
