Hey Neo, I already posted this on Calis Projects, but would you like to use a character set for a Rocket Proffesor I made? It'd be like the New Person Proffesor. He tells you about Team Rocket... So how about it?

    Just ask him yourself.
I don't know if he was doing me a favor or if he wants to let everyone use them.

Yeah. Use switches. After the player picks the starter, just turn on a switch- call it something like "Picked Starter"- then in the event commands, don't let the hero pick a starter if that switch is on.

its true though. they arent adding anything new to the games. but wat im doin is taking the starter kit at first then. changing everything up little by little into my own brand new game. your suppose to spend alot of time on games and make sure you got everything perfect, also it wouldnt hurt to have a few testers before you release it to make sure its addictive enough lolz

I agree 100% about that statement. Like I (and you, I'm sure) mean no offense to people who use it, but like it's games like these that do detract attention from our games.
What I mean by that is, these games have everything done for them.
All they have to do is add maps and events.
No wonder alot of these games are nearing demo stages so early on.
They don't have to code in battle systems- menus- or even setting up other simple things like showing text.

Like in sphere, as you said, you have to make everything some scratch. I'm the same in RM2k3. And with Rm2k3, I can only display text at the top or bottom of the screen, so I have to sprite every word in menu descriptions- where you can script it in RMXP to go anywhere on the screen. So this just takes time, not in RM2k3, but in paint just to do that, then convert the words to a picture lol.

So when new members look at our games, they expect demos early, and trash you when there is a bug or error with ANYTHING.
So excuse me for not copying and pasting a script that someone else did, or using a starter kit that has all your chipsets and character sets in already.

Now, again, this is only a rant, don't get ticked off people - with me saying this. There are a handful of good games that use the starter kit and they have my support.
But if your not bringing anything new to the table, ask yourself are you wasting your own time?

Hahah, most people only manage that. I think that want the ease of the rpg maker series. But that doesn't happen.

Everything is from scratch lol. I don't know about you but I think the new game makers in the forum with an exception of a few, don't know much at all, thanks to the starter kit.

A lot of crappy projects have come about

and now ours don't seem as impressive.

Hey man just read the message back to what I sent ages ago on here lol.

Yeah Sphere can do pretty much whatever you want (except 3d - well very well that is lol)

I don't know if you've seen the update, but i've added the bug catching contest to the game today.

I may write a tutorial about creating a game in sphere...
