I know how you meant that, but you might want to watch your phrasing. People don't just use new tiles for fame- it's just that the most graphically-intensive hacks (ie. Flora Sky and Light Platinum) attract the most noob attention, and so they seem famous- the fact that the tiles have been edited doesn't mean it was done purely for fame. Look at Pokemon Lilac- there's plenty of tile changes there, but I know for a fact DrFuji hasn't done it for fame, he's just done that because it looks nicer.
Again, I know how you meant that, but it looks like you're saying "I won't accept any criticism". Hacking should be done as a hobby, yes, but there's no harm in listening to what other people think about your work, and where they think it needs improvement.

Anyway I just saw this VM on Firework's profile, and I'm somewhat of a stalker, so I felt I should comment on it :3

I didn't really change tiles in my hacks, but I'm remaking my second, and adding new tiles can make some amazing things.



Now, new tiles don't make the game, (FAR from it), but anything with a good core, (story/events/grammar/map quality/etc.) combined with cool tiles, can make a game twice as fun.

(The tree tops have an ugly pallet, I know )
