Lol, I'm still picking vars out of my teeth...

Thanks for the links, I'll be sure to read them

I can relate to the whole perfectionist deal- I often find myself going back and redoing maps completely. It always works out better afterwards, though, so I suppose it's a good thing.

I know, I'd love for it to be on Emerald, but there are just... too many things to be careful with. I mean, I couldn't get scripts to compile to the ROM, and other crazy stuff kept happening. For a friend of mine, the Battle Frontier was... destroyed, despite him not having touched its data or scripts, or... anything. We've both had to move to Ruby. But it's all good, Ruby is a fine base, more English-speaking hackers should use it.

EDIT: And that Great Black One seems really interesting, lol. I really can't wait for a demo, I love hacks where you play as a Pokemon, I think I'd like to do one after my first ideas are done. Give me.... fifteen years. That should do it. :D

Yeah, sorry, I meant Paws for Alarm. And I'd like a link to the other chapters very much please :3
And I'm positive I will like the reworked intro you've planned. I often found myself doing that with my storyline, but it worked out for the better..
While I think of it, the reviews you give to people's hacks are utterly awesome, too. Redefining the term 'constructive criticism', hehe:D I do have my own hack here, yeah- http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=224001 - I recently had to restart it on a different ROM base because of some weird problems, so I'm now hacking Ruby. I don't have any pictures of scripts though, so people generally don't find it too interesting. But I've been eating a scripting tutorial and I nearly have it, so soon enough it'll be... Decent.

Hi You don't know me, but...
I felt the need to let you know that both your hack (Super Rising Thunder) and fanfic make me so incredibly jealous of your creativity, and sheer talent of coming up with a good, descriptive storyline.
    That is all

Awesome, this hack really caught my attention as one of the most unique out there. I can't wait to play a beta, and I wish the best of luck!

That was a great review of Badge of Darkness you did (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=5818011&postcount=6). It's great when people make comments like that and everything you said was completely true especially about NPCs. If only more people did crit like that.

That sounds...really interesting Fics that deal with Pokémon as a fandom, rather than the Pokémon world, can be either make or break, I think. Sometimes, they're little more than generic realistic fiction, such as a story that simply describes some kids playing the TCG - a fic like that doesn't do anything new or daring; and I could read similar stuff by picking up a published novel. But sometimes, the concept of Pokémon-as-fandom can be used in a story to make a point about what we traditionally consider fanfic; and could even allow us to see and experience our own love of Pokémon in a whole new light.

I recall two fics from many years ago that worked along these lines. The first was a fic about a Trainer who behaved in ways that we would traditionally find distasteful or abhorrent - yelled at his pokémon, battled in a way that could easily be called "cold" (forcing injured pokémon back unto the battlefield to essentially be used as a punching bag as he healed up "better" members of his team, etc) - and yet won the battle against his softer, gentler opponent whose battling style showed care and concern for his partners. We then pull back to see that what we had just been reading was the summary of a GameBoy Link Battle held by two kids in a playground. It was really fascinating to look at Pokémon from this perspective; and seeing just how our expectations get completely flipped around XD

The other fic I remember, which I just spent an hour trying to find again (but alas, it seems the sands of time have swallowed it up ), was called 2050. It was about some kids who go to visit their grandparent's house. They go up to the attic, and once there they find all these old Pokémon toys that they start playing fantastic games with, not knowing anything about them. They made up their own name for Pikachu and argued over whether it was a mouse or a rabbit, I recall XD And it was just one of the coolest, most fascinating fics I'd ever read...and I remember that at the end, the grandfather goes up to the attic with the kids and digs out an old GameBoy and some dusty VHS tapes, and basically "bequeaths" his love for and memories of Pokémon unto this new generation. I'm so upset I can't find it again

What sort of ideas do you have for your fic? I'd be really interested in seeing the potential, if you're willing to share
Aw, you haven't found either one of those fics yet? :< I say, I would like to read those one day. :3 If you're able to find them though, let me know!

Recently, I've noticed a change in the ROM Hacking fan community. It started on the Nuzlocke forums and spread quickly to /vp/, and frankly, I'm surprised I haven't seen it spread here (it's only a matter of time, I suppose). An overwhelming attitude of negativity, and an overwhelming preference for "mods" - hacks that change difficulty/add new 'mon or make them all catchable/add in later-gen features like physical/special split without changing tiles, plot, characters, scripts, regions,...
