No, randomly jumping into the middle of a series is hardly ever a good idea. While it does have the benefit of jumping ahead of all of the fillers in between character and weapon development--it takes Gourry how many episodes to use his "true sword", again?--losing out on backstory can leave any potential fan confused, as well as missing out on the comedy portion of this specific series. In the end, skipping the beginning of a series entirely is far more prone to turn watchers away than just watching all of the episodes.

Besides, I never found the so-called "fillers" in the series to be that horrible. There was usually a redeeming concept for each of them.

Amazon... I have actually never used Amazon for purchasing anything, partly because their prices often end up more expensive than most. Or perhaps because I have simply grown used to using eBay. That was where this box came from, after all, and it still works.

I was fortunate enough to watch the series pretty much in chronological order, so the original gets the usual "first watch" preference, but I think I liked Next just as much. The story just struck me as more interesting, and the main characters had more or less been placed into their roles already. ...At least, in the sense that the "Who is Zelgadis?" question had already boiled down.

About Me

  • About Sylphiel
Name's Jess, also still commonly referred to as Cowrie (and to be honest, if I don't know you that well, I'd rather you either call me that or by whatever username I happen to be using). There's really not much going for me. I like anime and manga, and video games and plenty of other things.

I'm also rather forgetful at times, so please don't get upset if I don't reply to any messages within a timely manner. More than likely it just keeps slipping my mind, assuming I'm not just being a lazy bum in the first place.

(In other words: I TEND TO FORGET THINGS. Please do not take it personally if I do not respond immediately.)

So I had a computer of mine die in 2006. While the computer itself went back to Dell whenever they sent me my current laptop, I still kept the hard drive and all the stuff on it - but just couldn't access it because I had nothing around here it would fit into.

We currently have a computer that it does fit into, apparently.

All my old music. All my old artwork. Stuff I'd forgotten I had or made, since I haven't been able to get to it for a few years.

So for those that don't know me, I've had a horrible track record with computers. Every single summer (or close to it), for the past few years, I've had a computer die on me in some way.

- July 2003, the hard drive in my old old desktop crashed.
- May(?) 2004, the same desktop finally gave up the ghost entirely (though the hard drive was okay, and I think is still being used in one of the computers in this house).
- June 2005, something goes wrong with Windows (no idea...

I have this blog. What shall I ever do with this blog??

I have no idea. :[

Work's been interesting lately. I have to wonder just how more interesting it'll become, especially if I can get a transfer request put through.

My job is making food at a certain taco place, and the particular store I work at is...fast becoming unbearable. While the best thing at the moment would be to try and get a better job, it's kind of hard to do so around here since not...
