I think Jarte is good. I know that the paid version has more bells and whistles but the free version is still good for writing and everything else. I tend to use it more than OpenOffice because I've been using Jarte more often.

And about that portable word processor I told you about, it's sort of like the Alphasmart. I bought it 4-5 years ago from Ebay in case I felt like writing and was too lazy to start my computer. The company that made the QuickPad might be gone, but there is a site that still has info about the thing itself.

And I COULD use a pen and paper, but I get hand cramps easily from too much writing.

That's why I'm doing fantasy rather than sci-fi, but I still need some logic to it. Why this certain virus only affects these species, what in the trigger substance causes a reaction and why... that kind of thing. It bothers me too much to handwave things, especially since I can't say "it's magic so screw it". :P

Yusyus! I'm about to the point where I can start writing properly, I just need to make the villains properly evil and figure out how the science of it works. Because I will not just handwave these things even if they don't come up at all!

Well, I logged into the NaNoWriMo site and I'm just about ready to do it. There is actually a write-in at a library in my town and since I have a portable word processor, I might join it.

Well, the drivers don't drive for the entire 24 hours. The rules state that drivers must get some rest after 2-3 hours of driving. That's why a team of 3 drivers can do the race with each one taking a turn ever 2-3 hours, depending on who is the fastest at a particular point in time.

Some are great at night while others are faster at the last 2 hours of the race.

And as for lining the new game... Sammi, I am a racing fan. If this game was illegal drugs, I'd be hooked and going to jail. XD

You mentioned word processors. I've had that problem before about finding something that can replace my MS Word that is on my older XP computer. Right now, I have Jarte and OpenOffice as word processors. And I know that Fanfiction.net is promoting this other word processor called "LibreOffice" http://www.fanfiction.net/oo/

I still miss using MS Word sometimes, but you get used to the free ones that are just as good.
