I guess the most likely reason I didn't get it was because I don't usually pay much attention to them.

    Regardless, thanks for clarifying.

Indeed. This also may help: http://thoughtbot.github.io/vimulator/

It's a Vim emulator that tells you what's happening when you hit keys. Try the "c i b" thing I mentioned earlier when you are inside brackets for example. (Keystrokes should be w w c i b. Vimulator will tell you what's happening.)

It's true. Vim is pretty focused on just one thing whereas Emacs is not.

One thing that is kinda difficult to learn about Vim that may help you in your Python coding are a little thing called "text objects". They make you look like a wizard (c i b to Change In Brackets for example.) and end up being very handy for standard code editing.

    Aye I see.

And fair enough. Vim is awesome too, but I'd hardly call it simple. (You'll see what I mean if you try to learn it.) Though I'm curious, what's wrong with feature-heavy anyway?

Oh..? It's definitely possible. Though there are a lot of people who use Emacs.

It feels a bit liberating to be able to shoot night scenes handheld without blurring and being too dark with the Sony Alpha NEX-5R. Good hardware + software is sometimes the key to shooting well. (Being able to shoot at ISO 3200 without repercussions is also nice compared to my smartphone which starts to get VERY iffy at 400.)

I wonder why we agree on every single controversial topic in existence. From the age of sexual consent to military equality to news corporations giving mass murderers the attention they crave, how do I seem to have the same opinion on those things as you?

Take the following to be true:
0. Human happiness has inherent value. Human life has inherent value because of the previous. Human liberty has inherent value insofar as it does not negatively impact the two former.

1. Age limits (ala consent, alcohol, etc.) are a compromise. There are people below the age limit mature enough to handle the responsibilities and above the age limit immature enough not to handle them.

2. It is morally wrong for an adult to have sex with...

This was a reply to some post on another site that I made a few minutes ago. The thread was about choosing between a number of options, such as eternal childhood or infinite political power or whatever.

[quote]But I want immortality and the experiences that come with it. I'm happy now, I have purpose and love for living. Eternal childhood? My childhood sucked. I want to forever be able to pursue the things I enjoy. I want to live through the ages and watch the evolution of man. I want...

I'm sure most of the people who will read this are aware that I'm not a fan of Apple or especially of Steve Jobs. I'll preface this by saying I won't be saying anything particularly negative about him here; rather, I feel that everything I disliked about him I've already voiced and this wouldn't be the appropriate time to criticize him, anyway.

What I will be saying is this. I didn't realize it until after his death, but I think a lot of the dislike I had towards the guy was misplaced....

A few months back, I had a dream that I really liked. It was about finding love and being with someone who I could just enjoy life with. It was one of the happiest dreams I had ever had, and it briefly reminded me why I continued to search for love.

Last night, I got to thinking about that sort of person and if I would ever find such a person among the women I tend to meet. As I was falling asleep, I hoped for a moment that I would have a dream similar to the one before. I don't usually...
