What you are describing in that post IS "Humane treatment". Animals do not have a right to such, but we have a moral obligation, not through any rights the animal has...for they have NO rights at all, to treat them humanely.

Hey, I wanted to let you know to the side since I'm guilty about not being able to sit down and give you a full review, but the color you chose for the background to your story in FF&W makes it impossible to read half of the text without highlighting if you're one of the people who're using one of the darker skins. (Midnight Misty, The Forgotten, Pokéthletes Inveted, or -- like me -- Johto Elite.) This is because those skins have dark backgrounds and light text, rather than light backgrounds and dark text. It might be easier for a reader, then, to take the background out. You could even keep the borders if you'd like, but mostly, you'll want your story to be easily accessible to everyone who comes along your thread. If a reader sees only small chunks of a story because of the way the colors that you used are, they'll actually be more likely to hit the back button and find something else than they are to highlight or change the skin they're using.
