I've been distracted from all the writing I was planning to do this week . . . I mean, I have got a lot done, but nowhere near as much as I was planning to do, and nothing at all on Champion Game. :/
Well, I can see that it would be harder to pull off with inexperienced Trainers, yeah. And I try not to have the Pokemon operate
completely of their own accord, but rather have the Trainers guiding them a bit more generally. For example, err:

“Torkoal, Magcargo, hold on in the middle there! Arcanine, Ponyta, try and get around the sides! Houndour, cover the back with some Flamethrower attacks!” To their credit, her Pokemon adapted to the situation as well as she could have hoped they would. Without needing to be directed into specific techniques – something for which she was endlessly grateful – her battalion of Fire-types spread out as she had ordered. While the cavern was low – the Magma grunts clearly had not thought a high, arching ceiling a necessary architectural feature – there was a surprising amount of room to maneouvre.

That's pretty much all the orders Flannery gives for the rest of the battle. Then stuff goes crazy and fire goes everywhere. Also, I believe that there's only one move named in the rest of the battle - other than Flamethrower up ^ there - even though various Pokemon use Fire Fang, Fire Blast, Overheat, Poison Fang, Crunch, Light Screen and Lava Plume. It's up to the people reading to work out which they are.
Well, League Rules are good because if you don't use them, any old Trainer can jump out and challenge you to a six vs however-many-you-have battle and send them all out at once. So on the whole, I tend to use them for all Trainer-vs-Trainer battles. But when it gets into unofficial stuff, there's no reason to actually use the rules. Except if

You didn't hear that from me.
Original? Hmm, thank you! I tend to base my writing style off authors whose work I admire, so it's interesting - albeit flattering - to hear that.
