A lot of the functions are undocumented for the most part. I'd grab knizz's latest IDB if you have IDA Pro and take a look at that, he has more stuff documented the last time I checked. Not a whole lot of documentation on specific functions though.

I'd recommend just doing basic OpenGL tutorials online (ie getting familiar with tessellation and texturing and whatnot). I'd also personally advise against changing the user's resolution, usually the user has resolutions set for a reason and changing them can be irritating for the user. Plus it can complicate multimonitor setups. If you're looking to make a tool, I'd use a windowed mode OpenGL application rather than a fullscreen one since most people like to multitask.

Heh, funny that you mention that, but I just started doign a disassembly here. It's not 100% complete (needs some binary blobs) but all the actual engine code is there.

And yes, Visual Studio has support for UI elements and manual UI drawing, even for C++ iirc.

Making an actual userbar graphic is just done with any image editor like Paint, Photoshop, or GIMP.

If you mean the little userbars by people's names when they post; they're used for specific things, like sponsorship or moderating. I don't think you can just make one and attach it to your profile, to be honest.

If I haven't answered your question you should ask a staff member, they're bound to know more about it than me!

Visual Studio is good if you're just starting out, and it has a nice visual editor too. If you doing Java, IntelliJ Idea has a visual editor iirc, or there's plugins for Eclipse if that's your thing. And for VB, it's possible to write pixels, you just need to find the proper methods to do it (I believe you can override the draw() call on components or something).

And for IDA pro, it's an interactive disassembler for anything binary. It costs quite a bit for the full needed version, but there's places to get it cracked or whatever. If you do get it, get version 6.3 or above since that's what knizz's IDB uses iirc. And to find knizz's IDB for Fire Red, just look in his signature. It should be a dropbox link.

To be honest, you could code a tool in either Java or C++, whichever is more comfortable. For Java, if you're experienced in other languages, I'd just jump in and learn by experience. If you're learning new, I'm not exactly sure where to help there. I personally learned from a Java for Dummies book I had as well as from Minecraft and Bukkit development. So there's various ways to do things.

Do you mean coding the complete game with own engine or just to doing a complete Romhack from scratch?
