Also, if I swap the user and target bank, won't the abilities work offensively, but not defensively?
I remember when I tested that when I attack, game won't even go to the ability check to see if I have a contact ability (or my opponent, for that matter). But it would stop every time I was attacked by a damaging move, if I'm not mistaken. Gotta research that again to be 100% sure.
I need help with something I hope is simple. I wanna make contact abilities (i. e. Flame Body, Poison Point, Static, etc) work both defensively AND offensively. I did some research on it, and kleenexfeu was helping me.
But after a long time of me having no time to do more, I was talking to kleenexfeu and he told me you did it in ability_something when you rewrote it (then I saw your rombase, btw).
Can you help me? I wanna do it in Fire Red, by the way. I am going to download your base and study your ability_something, but if you know the answer it's faster and easier (?). Plus, I want to avoid having to rewrite the whole ability_something code if I can.
yeah I can hook it there, but what exactly would you hook? Also, is everything covered there? Like damage calc, does it include everything, stuff like wonder room, klutz, magic room, psystrike, foul play and stuff like that? If yes, then no problem. If there's something missing, however, I suggest switching to C and rewriting it. Can you go on IRC, the one gogo has on her signature. I think we'd be better off talking there than via vms.
I'd like us to team up. I've been working on a Emerald Full Gen6 battle engine as well. Thing is, it's written entirely in C(minus hooks). Since we're both working on the same thing, I think we shouldn't waste an opportunity like that and do same thing over and over again.
