    It seems like your problem is that your code sets it to start on hungry rather than start from 0 hunger and go up from there. edit your code so it starts at zero like it starts your number of steps at zero.

    The new game part could be a problem, but I don't think being hungry when you load a game is that bad. I mean think how much real-time usually passes between turning your game off and getting back on it.

    Anyway, have you considered making a control variable out of starting the game?
