I don't think I've seen you on any of the few occasions I've been around the BBS irc lately, so it's nice to hear from you. I can totally understand and respect work commitments, but we miss you. n_n

Dude, I just realised that you and I both joined the forums on the day before our respective birthdays. Freaky.

    Also, where are you? ;;

    Hello Shrike flamestar!

I read a fanfiction of yours while back, and I'm using some ideas in it as reference points for my RP, as darkness falls. It involves the old chateau, and rotom...I am going to give credit, I just thought i'd notify you.

You never cease to amaze me with the amount of gore you can stuff into your writing without making it sound cluttered. I've read Three-Sixteen and yes, it was definitely awesome. Just want to commend you on that one Shrike and congrats on the 1st place emblem.

A lot of people were saying that the Pokemon gets turned into energy due to the glowing red "stuff" visible when recalling/releasing it, and the first thing I pointed out was that "energy", when used colloquially, can refer to either plasma or the literal definition, a gauge of how much work can be done.

Regarding the "real" types of energy, all of them except for EM energy are properties dependent on the presence of matter; you can only have potential/kinetic, gravitational, chemical/nuclear, and thermal energy if there's matter present to hold that energy... therefore a Pokemon cannot turn into any of these types of energy- doing so would remove the matter that energy was associated with, causing a nasty paradox: what happens to the energy the original matter held now that there's no matter in which to exist? It can't disappear, after all.

As far as matter being converted into EM energy, there's not much support for or against it. The first problem, though, is that EM waves can't truly be stored anywhere. The second is the glowing red blob itself, something that EM waves cannot be responsible for unless you're talking about visible light, which has a semiparticle nature. Particles don't work very well with PokeBalls for reasons mentioned earler.

    Plasma has also been discussed.

So if real energy doesn't work, and plasma "energy" didn't work, something new had to be done. I proposed digitization because both the anime (Electric Soldier Porygon) and games (PC/Item Storage System) imply that the Pokemon world has the technology necessary to convert matter into computer-readable data.

I'm a strong believer in the Socratic method, that the Truth will lie at the consensus of a debate. If anything, I'd want to include your personal opinion as to make a better theory.

In lieu of long posts, I'm going to do long blog entries. Like this one, except longer if possible. Also admire the header. Admire it or die! =P

It's now officially a conspiracy to bring down PC by superlong posts/blog entries. (b")b

I heard that in my temporary absence you had a few questions regarding my theories in the Guru thread. Anything you'd like for me to explain?

Your avi reeks of so much win, it doesn't deserve to be seen by the public.

    >_> Oops. I'll have to send you a friends request before you can contact me over on SPPf in any way, either VM or PM.

And I'll just change my settings, because I'm not active enough over there to even warrant VMs/PMs.

How so? It's nowhere near as long as some of your own posts, although significantly less focused. I could write another one, but I think I'll leave that for a while.

Working weekends? >:[ How dare they make you do that?

Of course, that's what I plan to do once I get to university level. The students of Otago, one of the universities I'm looking at, make up a fifth of the population of the city it's in. Otago students in general have a reputation of being . . . fond of their alcohol, iykwim. ^_~

So while everyone else (shameless hyperbole) is out drinking on Saturday and lying in bed with hangovers on Sunday, I'll be working off my student loan at the local McD's or something.

Sorry. After I closed the Lounge, I realized that I was way too tired from work to make any actual decision involving anything, so I went to bed.

Lounge is open now. Go have fun. :D

I used to do them, back on Bulbagarden. But one day, I promise, I will do a super-long post in the FFL, just for you. It'll be easy. My mind wanders freely, and I usually keep it on a leash. I mean, I could keep talking about my mind wandering for ages, even, because I'm just that kind of guy. I do it in real life, too. I'll be talking to someone, and I'll just keep talking and talking and talking, and they get really annoyed with me because we started out talking about the History lesson last period, and I've somehow managed to steer the discussion into Naruto without even pausing for breath. And the thing is, I don't just do it randomly, like-

"Hey, Sparkles, did you get down all those notes? I need to borrow your book."
"Yes, I did. Here you go. Naruto is awesome, isn't it?"
    "Thanks. Wait, what?"

No, I just go on for ages. It's sort of like Six Degrees of Separation. You know, my History teacher always spells 'separate' wrong. That and its variants. I mean, it being History and all, she uses the term 'Separatist' a lot, but she always spells it 'Seperatist'. It was an accident the first few times, but now she admits she does it on purpose, just to annoy me. I usually just grab a whiteboard marker and fix it. You know, the very first History lesson we ever had with her, she told me specifically I could do that. Somebody mentioned that I was a spelling bee champion, and she insisted on shaking my hand, and admitted she was a terrible speller. So now I feel somewhat obliged to fix her mistakes.

Even my English teacher does that. We recently did a unit on what he called 'dystopic fiction', right? Well, I was researching on the interwebs to write my piece, and Google didn't recognise the word 'dystopic'. I took a look around and, lo and behold, the word is 'dystopian'. He didn't really take kindly to being told he was wrong, though. (I also explained to him in detail that the concept of 'dystopia' that he'd been teaching us was actually 'anti-utopia', and 'dystopia' was something else entirely.) Yeah, he's weird. He talks for half the period before he lets us do any work, which would be awesome in any other subject. But a] I love English, and b] we have exams in six weeks and a whole lot of stuff to cover before then because we've literally only had two-thirds of the class time we were supposed to have had due to his ramblings.

Speaking of rambling, I am. I could keep going for ages, but I'm gonna have to cut it short now. =D

  • About Shrike Flamestar
I’m just another person seeking their place in this world and who has a strong imagination. I don’t view Pokémon or even our own world in the same way most people do, as can show through in my writing.
Writing, thinking up ideas to further add depth and detail to my views of the Pokémon world, video games, watching anime (not the popular ones such as Naruto, though), listening to music, and dwelling over how humans will eventually cause their own demise.
Within the synapses of the internet and my own mind.
