Sacred Fire/Divine Water [OOC/SU] Revived

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

— William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

After a long trudge through Route thirty-six and thirty-seven, Ethan took his first step into Ecruteak City, his starter Quilava rushing to his side. After a small sightseeing tour of the city, Ethan decided to examine the Kimono Dance Theater. Inside, he found five beautiful dancers, dressed in formal Kimono. Watching them dance, he also took notice of the Eevee evolutions that belonged to each individual dancer: Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, and Umbreon. Each Pokemon danced gracefully alongside their partner.

Ethan's golden eyes shined and his mouth gaped in awe. It was truly a magnificent sight. This city was filled with culture, and the wonder and grace of these dancers reflected it. However, when a Rocket grunt came up and began to harass the women, Ethan was the only one to stand up from his seat. Defeating the grunt in a Pokemon battle, the crowd cheered him on. After the battle, he was called to the back by a strange man, who turned out to be the Kimono Dance Theater's Director. He was sitting in the darker corner of the building, in the farthest seat from the stage, where he could easily keep an eye on everyone in the theater.

"You stood up to a gang member, and you defended my girls. I'm proud'a you, kid." The man's voice was rather wheezy, which was explained as Ethan quickly noticed the cigar between the man's fingers. He quietly just nodded to the Director, who patted him on the back a bit too hard. "Aaahhh, don't be modest, kid... You were the only one who challenged that Rocket. Now sit down, I'll tell you a story." Ethan, silent as always, gave him a rather awkward stare, before reluctantly sitting down, adjusting his hat in an attempt to distract himself for a moment. "This story is about Johto, a loooong time ago, about a hundred and fifty-three years ago. Ya saw that burned down tower, right kid?" After Ethan's gentle nod, he continued, "That tower burned a hundred and fifty years ago, give or take. And that's the story I'm gonna tell ya 'bout."

He paused for a moment, glancing at Ethan blankly, who just looked more flustered by his stare. "Eeehhh... I need visual aid, gimmee a sec, will ya?" Without waiting for a response, he looked around the room, walking up to a wall and taking a picture frame down. Ethan was dozing slightly as the man came back to the table. He decided to use the table as he slammed the picture frame against it, shattering the glass and breaking the frame into a couple chunks; all the while, nearly giving Ethan a heart attack, and waking him right back up. The Director picked up the paper that used to be framed, brushing off shattered bits of glass and examining it for a moment.

After cutting it in half, he placed the left half of the map down on the table for Ethan to see.
After a good ten seconds of examination, the Director took the paper back, and began coloring over it with markers, speaking to Ethan while doing so. "That's the western half of Johto today, right kid?" Without looking up to see Ethan's reply, he kept coloring over the map. "That's where this story takes place. Of course, it looked a lot different back then." After a long silence, he put down the markers and gave Ethan a blank stare. "Gee kid, you're really quiet. Anyways, here it is." He slid the paper to Ethan, who then began to look all over it. He could faintly see the modern-day Johto map under the coloring. He examined the colored borders, which fortunately were labeled, because it seemed pretty simple for a map.
While Ethan examined the map of Ancient Johto, the Director drew a thick purple line down it that seemed to split it in half. He put a lot of force into it, and the purple bled slightly giving it a fading effect. He let Ethan stare at the map while he began his story. "This was a time before Pokemon trainers, before capture, before technology... Ya see, there were two of those towers, before one burned to the ground. Of course, there was a reason for it..."

This is the tale of two families. You could call them kingdoms, but in essence the members are much closer to each other than that, with each member of their family willing to die for them, and vice versa. Even though they don't share blood, they act is if they do. They treat each other like siblings, parents, children, and lovers... Anyways... There once stood two magnificent towers, lead by one family; leadership shared by a man linked to Lugia, and a woman linked to Ho-oh. They used to be madly in love, but after the man and the Lugia had accidentally caused a massive, destructive storm... They separated. The woman and the Ho-oh were so enraged, that they decided to attack the man and his Lugia.

In the process, that tower was burned to the ground, killing hundreds who lived inside. Unfortunately, the three children linked with Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, were at the base of the tower when it collapsed in flames. Their deaths put Ho-oh and her human into a massive depression, and she was hostile and irritable toward anyone who interacted with her. She finally came up with a method for their resurrection. Summoning up all of her power, she erupted in flames, and reincarnated herself. Her ashes, known as 'Sacred Ashes', were sprinkled over the three deceased children, and they came back to life. Since then, Ho-oh and the woman treated the legendary beast-linked pairs with nothing but spoiling and affection. To everyone else, she treated fairly, though with much less interest. She was known to have a temper with anyone excluding her children.

Ho-oh and her human link were exhausted, weakened from the reincarnation. Seeing this opportunity, the Lugia pair and half of their family took a retreat, permanently separating the family into two; the family of Sacred Fire, and the family of Divine Water. Lugia and the man he's linked to lead the Divine Water family to an island off in the ocean. He kept his three children, the trio linked with the legendary birds, Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. Since then, the land was divided, and the families lived in piece, away from each other. Five years passed since the separation, and people were unhappy. A war broke out between the families, that would forever change the region of Johto...

You will play as one of the members of either family. Each human is linked to a Pokemon at birth. The human and the Pokemon are born simultaneously, and from the same parents. For example, if two humans fall in love, their Pokemon links fall in love with each other as well. If two humans create a child, their linked Pokemon also create a Pokemon child. Humans and Pokemon are linked by fate. Born together, they experience the same emotions, at the same time. They are destined to die at the same time. While the human and the Pokemon act and think alike, they are different people. They can get along, or even bicker with one another, but their emotions will always be the same.

Six players will play as one of the family leaders' children. Note that if you pick one of these characters, you will have to keep the following things in mind. This is also a very important part, so do not try to get a part as a prince or princess unless you know you will stay active in this RP. You have to pick the Pokemon tied to that character. If you're a prince or princess of Divine Water, your link is one of the three legendary birds. If you belong to Sacred Fire, your prince or princess is one of the legendary beasts. The leaders will be almost unseen from and unheard of in this RP, so you will often interact with each other, as well as the others in your family. Forbidden friendships and loves are possible, though you must accept the risks of this; your characters could be killed if caught.

Each Pokemon can learn any move that their species is able to; without a leveling system or move sets, you go at your character's pace. However, strength is not only determined by raw power; some are strategic, some are quick, some are agile, some have a solid defense, some are extremely wise, and some have personal abilities. Attacks aren't the only strength a Pokemon obtains. Keep in mind that you don't want an overpowered character; every positive trait should mean that there's also a negative trait. Characters with more flaws than skills are very liked among roleplayers.

Note that sexism will be a thick piece of the culture of the past. I don't agree with sexism, and don't think it should be endorsed, though in the past it was a serious issue. Sexism will be unallowed in the Ho-oh family, for obvious reasons (saying women are lesser than men in a family ruled by a woman will get you killed). Sexism might be somewhat common in Lugia family, depending on the type of character you create.

On a final note, culture is deep in this era. Bowing is respectful, as well as treating others with respect. you should speak politely, and respect your superiors. Also, appropriate dress is something that should remain consistent throughout this RP. CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME FORMAL DRESS FROM CHARACTERS ON POKEMON CONQUEST. Do not directly copy any of the characters, please. Try to be original.

  1. This RP is Rated "T"
  2. Violence, and some blood, thought not too graphic, is allowed.
  3. Romance is acceptable and even encoraged. However, Don't go past the "kissing" phase. Also, of you want to create a child, do it somewhere it won't be seen by roleplayers. Don't include the actions of getting pregnant, but let it happen "off-screen".
  4. Language is acceptable, if not used excessively. Swearing can add to the dramatic effect of a character's speech, but if he/she just swears all of the time, that only makes him/her a pottymouth.
  5. Follow the basic PC Rules and Guidelines.
  6. No Godmodding or over-powering others. Bunnying is only acceptable if you ask the player and he/she is okay with it. This is used also when you have to be away for a short bit of time and don't want your character left behind.
  7. Don't do anything too drastic without consent. Consult me before doing something like crossing the border, making your character fall in love with one of the opposite family, or trying to form an attack on the other family. This will likely result in failure, and even give an even higher chance of death.
  8. If your character is killed, you are allowed to create a new one, by filling out another sign-up form.
  9. Each person will have one character, but the option for two is available, if you consult me about it.
  10. If you leave the RP, your character will either go missing or die, unless you ask me otherwise.
  11. Be respectful to each other.
  12. If you want to play a prince/princess character, you must be active. These parts are very important to the story. Also, don't let your character get overpowered just because they linked to a legendary. Everyone gets an equal chance.
  13. This is not a rule, but more of a tip: I would reccomend determining the outcome of a fight with a fellow RPer before it begins. Know who's going to win or lose, and how it happens.
  14. If you have any questions, ask me.

I won't put any specific minimums for sign-up sections; however, I won't accept a sign-up unless I feel it has enough information in it. You are responsible for the depth of your sign-up, so make sure you've made your character thoroughly.

Full Name: (If you're a prince or princess, your last name must be "Densetsu". This is the surname of both leaders, as well. You will refer to your leader as "Densetsu-sama" or "Mr./Mrs. Densetsu", out of respect. However, you probably won't refer to the leaders very much. Your name doesn't necessarily have to be Japanese.)

@PinkSapphire &

Since we have Kim Densetsu now with no player, I give you two the option of controlling her. Otherwise, She'll have to be an NPC.

SylveonStar September 24th, 2012 5:32 PM

I already have two characters to control

<Challenger> September 24th, 2012 6:31 PM

Woo! SF/DW is off to a brand new start!

Satan.EXE October 2nd, 2012 7:41 AM

See, the thing is, I revived this RP, but there's still almost no activity, including those already in it. I don't need to close this RP down, do I? Because this is a lot slower than it should be.

juniebug910 October 2nd, 2012 8:16 AM

But I wanna join! Don't close it!

Can I reserve plz?

Full Name: Kitai Hikari

Nicknames: Kit

Sex: Female

Age: 16

Family: Sacred Fire

Career: Musician (for extra money)

Appearance: Kitai has a body of a young woman, her skin is a common tone (for actual people from America, though this is japanese-ish), and she has long blond hair and dark blue eyes, the hair in a ponytail. Her usual outfit is a pure white kimono with golden sparkles and a golden swirling design. On her feet are crimson sandles, and on her head is a white bow allowing the ponytail to stay in place. On her back is Shinseina, her weapon, and a brown bag that holds her harp she uses to put out her job as a musician.

Personality: Kitai is a calm and collected girl who is a master at the harp. She is VERY close to her Gardevior, and the two will move in sync at times. She is very loyal to her family, but does not see the point in fighting. All she want is peace between the two families, and Kitai secretly plays her music to 'send a message' to everyone, by trying to calm them down if anyone fights. However, when it comes to her fighting, she doesn't go easy on the enemy at all. Inside, she is strong, determined, and wanting to win. But Kitai will only fight if the attacker does something horrible, like trying to kill without mercy, or attacking helpless people.

History: Kitai was taught to play the harp at a very young age, as was Tekina (while a Ralts) with the flute. They would practice in the forest often, playing for other pokemon. Eventually, a young boy named Hikaro and his partner Ponyta heard their music, and met Kitai and Tekina. They became good friends, and met in the forest every night.

One day, Kitai had come to the forest, and Hikaro was not there. While walking through a bit, they noticed Hikaro seemingly dead. While looking closer, Kitai was relieved that he was alive, but was severely hurt, as was his Ponyta. A few Ariados then fell from the trees. Kitai was scared, making Tekina fill with rage and making it evolve into Kirlia. It fended the attackers off, and Kitai took Hikaro and the Ponyta to safety.

After Hikaro and Ponyta had healed, their meetings continued as normal. Eventually, Tekina fully evolved into a Gardevoir. Now Kitai and Hikaro are fully grown, but still continue to meet up like when they were children.

Skills: Harp playing

Flaws: When something irritates Kitai, she kinda...yeah...does that count as a flaw-ish thing?

Weapon: A golden scepter named Shinseina.

Pokemon: Gardivior

Pokemon Name: Tekina

Pokemon Personality: Tekina is like Kitai, calm and collected. Another catch she has from Kitai is that she will only fight if someone else gets severly hurt, or if someone attacks helpless people.

Pokemon History: Tekina, as a Ralts, was born at the same time as Kitai, making them instantly companions.

Pokemon Specialty: Flute playing (to help with Kit's musician career)

Pokemon Flaws: Tekina keeps trying to convince Kitai to try the flute at least once, which can annoy the girl.

Proof of Reading: I ALWAYS read the first post to both determine the rules and find out what the RPG is about. You don't have to worry, trust me.

Anything Else: The bond between Kitai and Tekina is unbreakable, therefor, they can understand eachother and comunicate telepathicaly. Also, sometimes when Kitai does something, Tekina imitates it.

<Challenger> October 2nd, 2012 1:25 PM

Is it daytime? If so, I could post immediatley.

machomuu October 2nd, 2012 1:26 PM

I'd post but it's still night time; once the sun rises, I'll post.

Satan.EXE October 2nd, 2012 1:31 PM

I'm really debating on whether we'll have this RP afloat or if I'll need to shut it down. We need some notifications from the current members as well as some more sign-ups from new players to keep this going. So, I'd ask that everyone post here that you are going to be making your post on the day cycle.

SylveonStar October 2nd, 2012 1:38 PM

I'll definantly post once it's daytime

<Challenger> October 2nd, 2012 1:38 PM

I will indeed be making a post.Masahiro will probably go out into the forest to think or something.I'd appreciate it if someone could interact.

UnderMybrella October 2nd, 2012 2:41 PM

Signing up now! Don't close it!

Full Name:
Minoru Kawaguchi
* Meaning: Minoru means Fruit, or seed. Kawaguchi means Mouth of the River
Nicknames: Chik-Pea, nicknamed this because Minoru does everything with his Chikorita
Sex: Male
Age: 13

Family: Minoru is part of Divine Water
Career: Minoru and his Chikorita look after the farms, plant crops, gather and scavenge for food, as well as helping out in the fishing.

Appearance: Minoru is an interesting figure. His eyes are deep blue, blue as the oceans that surround him. His skin is fair, as while he journeys out into the sun, he and Chikorita look out for each other, and Chikorita shades him. His hair is very interesting. It seems to be brown with tints of blue at first glance but later, under close inspection, it's blue with a tint of brown! He has a graceful style, some say he seems to almost swim through the air. Everything about him screams graceful, handsome almost, except one burn. On his left hand. Although it was years ago that it happened, the mark is still there. Occasionally it seems to glow bright red and take on the tone of the sun. It is said that this happens when a member from the Sacred Fire family is very angry. He also wears simple, practical clothes, generally white except in winter, when he wears black.
Personality: Minoru is a loving, caring soul, often calm, rarely angry without cause.
History: Minoru was thought to be prince, until a year ago, when he gave up his prince-ship thing to be a simple farmer.

Skills: Minoru understands others well, he can count to 1 000 000 000 000 000 000, he treats others well, and he can relate to most people.
Flaws: When angry for a justice reason, he won't back out. If the other team had angered him for a justified reason in a game of what people in 2012 will call football, even if the score's 100-0, he wouldn't back out, no matter what the odds. Oh yeah, and furious temper.
Weapon: Minoru's preferred weapon is a scythe. Always nearby, always sharp, it is as much a tool as a deadly weapon in Minoru's hands. After the scythe, a nice, pointy stick.

Pokemon: Chikorita
Pokemon Name: Starlust, named this for he has always wanted to fly through the stars.
Pokemon Personality: Starlust shares a complete link with Minoru, and, as such, acts almost exactly the same. Graceful, calm, when angered is justified is a deadly force.
Pokemon History: Starlust has lead a pretty good life, a couple of scratches here and there from defending Minoru, oh, and a burn on his right foot's little toe.
Pokemon Specialty: Starlust specialises in a awesome solarbeam. While this is powerful, Starlust can control this and often can be seen using it to help Minoru in his work.
Pokemon Flaws: Starlust has never been able to evolve, and, like Minoru, never backs out of a fight.

Proof of Reading: Ethan shall truly learn the history of Johto after this.

Anything Else: Minoru and Starlust share a mental and physical link. When one hears something, the other hears it too. When one is in pain, so is the other. It is absolute. And they can talk to each other through this link.

SylveonStar October 2nd, 2012 2:47 PM

I'm gonna have Seraphina look for an apprentice, to help her gather herbs, supplies, etc. So if anyone that makes a sign up wants to do that just send let me know :).

<Challenger> October 2nd, 2012 3:52 PM

@Genevieve Masahiro would be good for that! He was a herbalist's apprentice. Could I sign up?

ShinyDiamond October 2nd, 2012 5:35 PM

Icarus hasn't gone to bed yet, I'll make a post today or tomorrow.

juniebug910 October 3rd, 2012 2:24 AM

Is the IC thread ALREADY up?

Still working on mine. BTW, it's more up from here.

As Sir. Akio previously stated, this RP was revived, so yes, the IC has been up for quite a while, as of now it is currently nightime.

That said, there is a high chance that I sign-up for this RP, for I've been stalking following it for quite some time. I do not ensure I'll sign-up, but I'll most likely do so if I find enough free time to be active in another RP.

Satan.EXE October 3rd, 2012 10:10 AM

I'm still deciding... But I do have a question:

Where is PinkSapphire? She is in control of one of the Princesses and another character.

SylveonStar October 3rd, 2012 11:33 AM

PinkSapphire isn't allowed online for awhile

Satan.EXE October 3rd, 2012 1:28 PM

Any idea when she will be back online?

EDIT: Okay, I've decided to let this thing continue. Of course, we'll be waiting on PinkSapphire for a bit, so she will need to be bunnied until she returns. Otherwise, I think we'll continue into morning here soon.

Garet October 3rd, 2012 6:54 PM

I believe I may have time for this roleplay. I do have a couple questions, though. Where do the people of each family usually spend their time? Is the top of the plateau foresty at this time in history, or what?

NightOfRemorse October 3rd, 2012 9:29 PM

I'll be bunnying Hikari in my next post, then :]

A few pointers on what she and Masashi could do once they get home would be nice, lol.

SylveonStar October 4th, 2012 6:10 AM

heretostay123: That would only work if your character was in Divine Water

No, the New Moon Festivals are celebrated there. Refer to the map in the original Post to see the territory lines. The homes of the families are towers that are clearly noticeable. One on the island, and one in a clearing.

Actually, I was hoping you'd put Addie to bed with your next post, and you can go ahead and start the morning.

Also, Kitsuko isn't going to sleep on that pile of clothes. Addie is going to wake up with the little girl tucked in her arms.

Koyan October 4th, 2012 3:41 PM

Full Name: Shiryo Maboroshi
Nicknames: Shir and Shi
Sex: Male
Age: 19
Family: Divine Water
Career: He never actually volunteered, but ended up with being a guard detail for whoever needs it… (I thought it was original… I’ll change it if it isn’t acceptable.)

Appearance: Shiryo has red eyes that are rimmed by dark circles. During the day, he may squint, or close an eye, as the light tends to be painful due to his bright eye color. His black hair is medium length with unruly spikes and is accented by the two large cowlicks that are almost shaped like horns or ears. He measures 5 feet 10 inches and he weighs 140 pounds. He wouldn’t describe himself as being muscular, but he knows that musculature is the last thing he lacks. If one is lucky to cath him smile, they might find that his teeth are quite sharp. He wears no armor preferring to have mobility over defense. His clothing is just a simple black Kimono/outer robe, and a pair of black Hakama that are hemmed to not fall so loosely. His chest can be seen through his open Kimono showing a scar over his heart. He wears a Porcelain mask that is painted gold on the side of his head.

Personality: Shiryo is quiet and rarely complains. Although he may resent something, he’ll never give a show of it, except for maybe a twitch of his nose, or squeezing a fist. He’s suspicious of people who have something to gain. He is a heavily internalized person who spends his free time thinking. He tends to be a slow person, not in mind, but in action. When to a question, he may take a few seconds to chew over his answer. He enjoys silence and may grow annoyed when buffeted by constant loud noises. He has an incredibly long fuse, but when he explodes, people get hurt. He doesn’t understand people who make decisions based on feeling. Decisions are something he does not like at all, preferring for things to be left to chance, or even someone else.

History: Shiryo’s immidiate family excommunicated him for something he refuses to talk about, but may be connected with his former lover's was murder.

Skills: He is a heavily Tactile thinker and is a natural peacemaker that looks at problems from all angles.

Flaws: He avoids having to make decisions, preferring to leave it to chance. He can be suspicious of people that rub him wrong. He is easily distracted by his constantly wandering mind. It’s difficult for him to say no to a request. He can’t deal with stress and if he becomes to overwhelmed, can lash out verbally at anyone who bothers him.

Weapon: Due to his deep connection with his Pokemon Link, he can tap into a few shadow related abilities which he uses in conjunction with the Tanto he keeps hidden in his sleeve. He has very little practice with using magic, which makes him prone to mistakes.

Pokemon: Yamask

Pokemon Name: Shingetsu, Nicknamed Shin.

Pokemon Personality: Shin follows Shiryo closely at all times, sometimes even melding with his shadow or resting on his shoulder. He helps Shiryo escape from potential disaster by grabbing and pulling him into a very weak Shadow force. Shin is a very timid Yamask that has a dislike for strangers. He's gone through a strange growth spurt in the last few months...

Pokemon Specialty: He is good at using Shadow Sneak to manipulate shadows and teleport short distances. Never sleeps, so he can be alert at all times. He can phase through walls as well as people.

Pokemon Flaws: Although it possesses the ability "Shadow Force" it is so diluted that it can only be used to move quickly. Shin is quite frankly, a very clumsy Yamask. He tends to surprise people by facing through them, which one can imagine, can be confusing and surprising to the unwilling victim. Shin, despite being calm has frequent panic attacks where he flies around chaotically that coincide with Shiryo’s stress level.

Proof of Reading: It is really difficult to prove that I've read the post... But I guess I'll say that: Ethan is quiet, The old man used on only half the map of Kanto, and Ho-oh and her link resurrected Entei, Raikou, Suicune and their links. *Gasp*
