The Three Hitmons
Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop.

Hitmonlee is a kicking-based Fighting-type, Hitmonchan is a punching-based Fighting type and Hitmontop is a spinning-based Fighting-type. All of them evolve from Tyrogue by fulfilling different stat requirements:

Hitmonlee if his Attack is higher than its Defense.
Hitmonchan if his Defense is higher than its Attack.
Hitmontop if his Attack and Defense are the same.

Which of the three Hitmons do you prefer? Which do you think is most useful in battle and the most reliable? Why do you think so? Add in anything else that you feel appropriate!

I always found Hitmonchan most useful because of his ele-punches.

Brendino May 4th, 2013 11:40 PM

I've always been a fan of Hitmonchan compared to the other two, partially because of its design, and partially because of its moveset (including the elemental punches, like Sajmon said). It was also my second most sought after card in the TCG when the Base Set first came out, yet to this day I never managed to get one.

Hitmonlee is my favourite.
Hitmontop is the most useful though

Bumfluff1202 May 5th, 2013 1:59 AM

Hitmonchan I chose but never used Hitmontop

ZSlinx May 5th, 2013 2:01 AM

As far as usability go hitmonchan because he can learn the elemental punches. As far as design goes though i like hitmontop the most. As for hitmonlee its a good pokemon too i just like hitmonchan more.

Based on design, I prefer Hitmonlee. But, as previously mentioned, Hitmonchan's elemental punch moves are ideal.

Somehow, I have four. Hitmonchan is one of the main Pokemon of my deck. Which is one reason why I like him more. Ever since I played the TCG and won so many matches with Hitmonchan, he's been my favorite of the Hitmons.

It wasn't until a recent playthrough of Crystal that I actually used one in game, and again Hitmonchan proved to be really useful. I'm not sure how I ever would have gotten through the game without his ability to learn the elemental punches and be really amazing.

Never used the other two (yet) but Hitmonchan has just proved himself to be reliable, so I'm going to stick with him.

Digimooooon... I mean whut

I always liked Hitmonlee better. I don't really have much of a reason other than the fact that it specializes in kicking :P

giradialkia May 5th, 2013 5:00 PM

It's Hitmonchan, for me- I just like that he learns the elemental punches on his own, it helps him cover a lot of bases and that's something I like. I've never actively used ANY of the Hitmons in a team, though.. While I like that Hitmonlee's generally better for attacking, I find that whenever I'm facing one, he always relies a lot on Hi Jump Kick, which.. I don't really like. As for Hitmontop, I don't really like it much at all, it's always seemed a little but unnecessary to me.

Reb0rn May 5th, 2013 5:54 PM

Hitmonlee. Blaze kick, nuff said.

Diversion May 5th, 2013 6:10 PM

Hitmonlee. It's better than Hitmontop and Hitmonchan.
Hitmonchan isn't really that good. Hitmontop is... ok. But Hitmonlee is better.

I've been a fan of Hitmonlee. One time on emulator I finished Pokémon Gold using only the Hitmons (+ HM slaves). Hitmonlee was by far my strongest Pokémon.

Talli May 6th, 2013 6:18 AM

the only Hitmon I have been a fan of is Himontop because It was a gaint spinning top pokemon, plus it was based after anyone like Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee were.

Turnip May 6th, 2013 12:36 PM

Hitmonlee for me, because of stats, design, and I guess moveset, too. Plus he's referentially based on Bruce Lee, so...

Hidden Power May 6th, 2013 2:14 PM

Hitmonlee because it has more Attack power.

Blade_of_darkness May 6th, 2013 4:48 PM

None of the above, thank you very much. They're all mediocre at best.

GrayJM9 May 7th, 2013 11:48 AM

Hitmontop is the coolest! I think Lee is the least useful.

Zorogami May 7th, 2013 12:58 PM

Hitmonlee has always been my favorite, i just love his design and his stretchy legs :D
Although Hitmonchan might be the most useful one for learning the elemental punches

lmcde22 May 8th, 2013 5:27 PM

Bruce Lee = Epic
Hitmolee = Epic

The Dark Avenger May 11th, 2013 7:38 PM

I really like the original duo, Hitmonlee being the kicking pokemon, and hitmonchan being the punching pokemon. To me, hitmontop is diminished the likeablity of the dynamic; it should have stopped with the introduction of Tyrogue, the pre-evolution. Does there really need to be two kick-based pokemon? Maybe a headbutting, heck, a belly-bumping pokemon would have been a more complimentary addition.

So, of the two originals, it's a tough choice for my favorite, but I will go with Hitmonchan simply because of the versatility of moves it has always had. Blaze kick is the only, non-fighting or normal kick attack to my knowledge, and it took until gen 3 to introduce it.

Ephemeral Euphoria May 11th, 2013 7:43 PM

I like all 3. But Hitmonchan gets my vote for the elemental punches under its belt.

Amore May 12th, 2013 7:02 AM

I'd always been a fan of Hitmontop due to its design before I'd ever used them. Now I've used them all, and I have to say I don't have a favourite anymore.
Although their designs aren't my favourites, I don't dislike Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. Plus, Hitmonchan is named after my favourite Asian :)
Hitmonlee's kicking attacks have the better animations, Hitmonchan has the best movepool for in-game with those elemantal punches, and Hitmontop is a bit of a tank (despite low hp) and has a decent movepool too.

Krookodile777 May 12th, 2013 10:36 AM

Hitmonlee, because

Kicking FTW!

XtinaIsMeLuvinWWE May 18th, 2013 7:53 AM

Hitmonlee based on design, kicking capabilities and I've used him on several teams and he's proven to be quite a force to contend with :)
