After that, the last things to do for textures research are 3D moving and block rotations (for the sand in center).
That is some progress! What card are you using? Just so I know...
Anyways, what I would do is try using 255 (I know, a lot) revisions and change that byte and list all the ones that will load on the DS properly. Then, from there, list what each hex number does. It might yield some positive results.
