I thought that might be the issue. What you can do is redownload version 0.13 from here (
http://lightning-yellow.com/download.php) load your save file up and change the resolution to the lowest setting. save the game then load the save in 0.14. seemed to work for me
At the moment they need to be traded via GTS, though I may make the final evolutions available somehow at a later stage
