Gotta agree with Mew here 
Monozu's episode was a development for Iris for she got some experience in her way to be the Dragon Master.
If it were some other Pokémon and not dragon type just like we have seen in the Tessed episode where she befriended Langray's Baivanilla it probably wouldn't affect her character development but since it WAS dragon type, it affected
