Is morbid poetry/songwriting/art really that bad?

Well, is it?
For most people, the answer is a firm YES. But if you really pause to think about it...
It is a way to get out your stress without really harming a living person. That same person who gave the firm YES may change their answer when you lay the question before them, "Would you rather a breathing, flesh-and-blood person have their blood stop moving through their heart? Or would you want somebody's own character to be killed in writing that expresses the author's anger towards the things they can't change?"
I am guilty of this, and so that may lead to bias. But it is my way of releasing my stress, my way of making all of the sucky parts of life go away. It is a method better than drugs.
So give your opinion. Let me know. And maybe give a bit of constructive criticism when it comes to how I spend my time.
