I'm very, very opinionated when it comes to music, so I'm going to have to restrain myself quite a bit. If I get out of hand, just let me know.
The first on my list of underrated artists is Dan Deacon. The man is one of my personal favorite musicians and even those who know of him don't seem to understand exactly what he does and why its so impressive. I think "
" is one of his most polarizing pieces, so if you're looking for an example of what I'm talking about, search there first.
Second on the list is Devendra Banhart. We all know he dated Natalie Portman and had a fair bit of success based on that fact alone, but his earlier albums (El Nino Rojo in particular) get no play and contain his best work. Everything he produced before 2010 was incredible and some of his works can still stop me in my tracks even after listening to them hundreds and hundreds of times.
I've got plenty more up my sleeve, but past those two I tend to just ramble on and on.
