When Pokemon 'faint' is it about losing the will to keep fighting or getting KO'ed?

Pokémon have special genetic coding, and this genetic content attract them to Pokéballs, give them supernatural strength and make them prone to Pokédiseases like the Pokévirus. Based on this only did they make Pokéballs. So, basically, when they fight, they use this inner energy. If they 'faint', their energy is out and this causes a momentary unconsciousness, and that causes their eyes to become spiral. After this, they return to their normal state, but they'll be generally exhausted and will only have enough energy to do field moves (Cut, Strength, Rock Smash etc.) and come along with the trainer.
I read this up somewhere long ago, or I must have made this up. Anyhow, it's the closest we can get.
